On this escorted tour, you will go on a morning bus trip toward the western Crete, followed by a stop on the Omalos plateau. From here, you will proceed to see the Samaria Gorge at an altitude of 4 feet. You will start the 9.9 mi walk through the gorge and go further 1.2 mi to reach Agia Roumeli.
The first 2.5 mi will be a steep descent and halfway through the walk you will cross the Samaria village. In some time, you will reach the ‘Gates’, the highest and narrowest part of the gorge.
From here, you will cover a distance of 1.2 mi to reach the guard post, entering the old village of Agia Roumeli. You will be able to ride a boat from Agia Roumeli to Sfakia and back (additional charge), followed by a bus ride back to your hotel.
