At this workshop, you will be introduced to Batik Art and taught the basics of Batik making. You’ll learn everything right from drawing the typical Malang art patterns, applying wax on the fabric with traditional Canting process and organic wax, to finally dyeing the fabric with organic ingredients to get the earthy colour on it.
You will also get to interact with the local artisans, who are mostly stay-at-home women dedicating their free time to the creative process of Batik production. By the end of the workshop, you’ll get insights into how the fine art of Batik creation came to be a UNESCO Intangible Heritage.
