On this guided tour, you'll get to explore the Catacombs of Saint Gaudosius, a system of underground passageways used by the early Christians as a burial place. You'll also get access to the Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità, where the entrance to the Catacombs is located.
During the one-hour walk, a knowledgeable guide will take you through the underground paths, where you'll have the chance to see early Christian elements such as frescoes and mosaics dating back to the fifth and sixth century CE. The tomb of Saint Gaudosius, buried between 451–453 CE, is a major highlight of this tour. You'll also get to see a series of graves reserved for nobles and the clergy in the 17th century.
