This custom tour will take you to Rocky Mountain National Park via Grand Lake, guided by local historian Dave Lively. You'll travel by private vehicle in a four-door truck, avoiding crowds as you dive deep into the park's out-of-the-way treasures throughout Kawuneeche Valley and the Colorado River. You'll also get an education on the region's history, inhabitants and of course, its flora and fauna.
Lively, the only certified tour guide in Grand County, actually lives on the western side of the park – his family homesteaded there – and using photos and personal titbits and tales, will literally and figuratively take you to the area's past. You'll learn about this vast wilderness back when it was not frequently – if ever – visited by tourists.
