FAQs about hotels in Ghent

A Historical, Cultural and Culinary Gem

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is a city of history and romance. It's full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.

The Gravensteen or "Castle of the Count" is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.

Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent.

Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the "noses".

Antwerp International Airport is 32 miles away, while Brussels Airport is 34 miles. Just book your hotel, guest house, apartment, or B&B through Booking.com and discover everything this stunning city has to offer.

Ghent has everything you could possibly want.

Ghent has everything you could possibly want. Culture, history, entertainment, hospitality, sport & relaxation, nature, exploration and discovery. It combines a local, historical attitude with an internationally minded atmosphere and is inclusive and tolerant towards all who choose to coexist peacefully. Additionally, Ghent is the perfect homebase for visits to other places all over Europe. It is more affordable than the major capitals, offers more peace and quiet while still providing everything you could want. In aproximately 3 hours in either direction you are within reach of a vast number of major cities in Europe.

What a magical city 😍 one of the most scenic cities I've ever stepped foot in. I will definitely want to visit again. The food was amazing, the history was enticing, and everything was within walking distance which was perfect. You have to eat at Vier Tafals! Some of the best food I had on vacation and the chef was the sweetest man ever. You can taste the passion in his cooking. Also, do the audio tour at Gravensteen Castle. The audio guide was historical with comedy laced in. One of the best audio tours I've ever been on.

The atmosphere is relaxed, fantastic, especially in the sunshine but also in the rain. It is a little hidden gem, we appreciated that everything was within walking distance. Impeccable transports. The lighting at night is magical, the small places neat and characterful, many look like something out of a fantasy novel. Cruise on the Lys was pleasant and interesting, a good way to know the city from another perspective. Great food, and a crazy art shop!

Ghent is just a beautiful city.

Ghent is just a beautiful city. It's actually one of my favourite cities to visit for a short break. Historical gorgeous city centre. I recommend visiting during the "Gentse feesten". A long weekend full of festivities with events held through out the city. Although I might just choose to do a day visit in that occassion as it can be really busy. I love the fact that even though there are big crowds during that time, there seems to be no disturbances that I'm used to seeing at such events elsewhere. Take a boat ride on the canals, visit the cathedral and bell tower. By chance discovered a couple of city palaces that are open to the public, which are well worth a look. Good food everywhere. What is there not to like really?

Fabulous city with lots to see.

Fabulous city with lots to see. Very compact so easy to walk to everything Buildings are beautiful and would recommend the Cathedral, the Bell tower and Gravenstein castle. . The audio guide is hilarious, just like,"horrible histories" There are numerous museums. City has wonderful shops, fashion, gifts and more chocolate shops than you could ever want. Have to indulge in Frites and mayonnaise, waffles, and thick hot chocolate. Have been to Bruges which we loved but Ghent has more to visit whilst still having the rivers, canals , beautiful buildings and houses

"The Ghent altar paintings" were tremendous and should be seen. We were there for the Light festival which was well worth experiencing. Plenty of walking but forget the car and put it in the public garage. Ours was €15 for just under 24 hours. If you enjoy walking there is plenty to see, both old and new.

Location suited us perfectly as we arrived in Ghent by train and the hotel was just across from the railway station. There was a great variety of restaurants within walking distance and the food available in the Hotel Castel was excellent. The Station was also a depot for all buses and trams and there was a taxi rank at the same location. We purchased a 3 day ticket 15 Euro each ,at the Information Office there ; which meant we were able to take trams or buses everywhere. this made it so convenient and cheap to explore the City.

I liked the location, because it was really close to the train station, and 20 min by foot to the center, also there was tram station right in front of the hotel. Stuff was really pleasant, they gave us directions and a map, we also used the luggage keeping service since we arrived earlier. Room was clean, shower was great, the cleaning service was changing towels and throwing out garbage every day. Complementary water and biscuits was nice touch. I would definitely stay here again!

This is a modest hotel conveniently located across the plaza from the train station in Ghent. My room was large, well heated, and comfortable with a view over the park to the train station, the bathroom was spotlessly clean. There is a tram from the train station to the city center and other places of interest and the museum of fine arts is in the Citadel Park a few minutes walk away. The hotel has a restaurant and offers breakfast as well as evening meals.

our second time at this quirky beautiful boutique hotel just inside the city edge making it an idea location for Ghent. just a note that the bathrooms don't have doors...we love this quirky feature but you need to be comfortable with your partner! also the stairs leading to the bedrooms are historic and charming, but best to pack light so that you don't need to take large cases up these vintage staircases!

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Carlton - the room was spacious and clean, and the location was very convenient near the main train station and a short walk from the tram that took you into central Ghent. The staff was excellent and very helpful - we had to leave a day earlier than we anticipated, and the reception allowed us to change our reservation so we didn’t have to pay for the extra day we had booked.

I stayed at the B&B Centrum in Ghent for one night and it was a great experience. The hotel was cozy, clean, comfortable, and well-located. I particularly appreciated the early check-in availability and the comfortable bed. We got an access code instead of a key, which was great for us light travelers. The room has a thermostat and Netflix tv. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Ghent.
