The 2nd largest Czech city, Brno is a centre of Moravian culture, surrounded by lush countryside. The twin spires of the hilltop Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul dominate the neighbouring Bishops Palace, while the nearby square houses the Moravia Museum and Reduta Theatre, both the oldest in the country.
Beneath the square is Brno Underground, a maze of medieval tunnels and cellars that once housed wine produced in the surrounding region. There is an annual wine festival here, but the largest event is the Ignis Brunensis fireworks competition by Brno Lake to the north-west, lined by trees that hide Veveří Castle.
A less grand castle - Špilberk - sits on a hill in the city centre. At its feet is Masaryk University, the 2nd largest in the Czech Republic. The city’s Mendel University is named after the genetics founder who was abbot of St Thomas’ Abbey, where a museum commemorates his work.
The nearby Brno Exhibition Centre is of functionalist design, but the most important example of this architectural style is UNESCO World Heritage-listed Villa Tugendhat. On the opposite side of the city is Masaryk Circuit, home of the Czech MotoGP.
The Brno accommodation on Booking.com includes cheap hostels near the train station, guest houses near Freedom Square and hotels by Brno-Tuřany Airport.

I have been to Brno a number of times and there is always something new to do. The standard of hospitality is very high - great restaurants and wine bars. To recommend one, I would choose Borgo Agnese. The city is also culturally rich - music, history, art. A fabulous city.

Brno was a busy town but not really tourist oriented.. it had some amazing history and beautiful buildings to look at so best to do your homework first so you get an understanding so as to self guide as it’s quite expensive otherwise.. we stayed in an apartment 2minute walk from central station which was the perfect location and well priced . You can walk everywhere unless you wish to drive /bus out to some of the other buildings of interest 20-30 klms out .. lots of underground tunnels to explore in which you can go on line and get a group pass discounted .. would only recommend a day visit here ..

Brno is a hidden gem.
Brno is a hidden gem. It has amazing architecture, plenty of things to do. A really vibrant coffee and food scene and incredibly cheap beer, poured beautifully. The locals are friendly and it feels like a safe city, only the area around the station is a little rough. This is a great place to come for a short break - great value and no tourist crowds. The theatres offer opera, ballet and other shows at bargain prices. Visit in spring-summer for warmth, sun and flowers or in December for some of the best Christmas markets in Europe. Again, without the crowds.

Brno is a great place to visit. Lots to do and lots to see.
Brno is a great place to visit. Lots to do and lots to see. Easy connections by bus or train to other neighbouring countries like Slovakia or Austria. Brno is worth visiting at different times of the year. Great for city sightseeing lovers but great for lovers of hiking and sports. Perfect local transport system and very cheap. Slightly more difficult if you are a vegetarian. The Czechs love their meat. Saying that there are some lovely places for vegetarians too.Just not so many. Our Christmas stay was completely ruined by the accommodation. So choose carefully and read as many reviews as you can. There are some cowboys out there and some travellers with very low standards. Definitely avoid Apartment with Petrof View.

Brno is a nice, lovely city, with not that many western tourists. It is not that big, and the public transport is great. There are a lot of historic landmarks from different ages. There are enough shops, bars and restaurants.

During one week stay found a Christmas market behind the hotel in a nice city, with some stairs but mainly flat terrain. The street is old style, which I like better than modern bricks.
Tram and police make lots of noise in the city, but not so much as Paris luckily. People on the street are quiet and not interested in foreigners with cameras.
Some places show a huge crocodile, there must be a nice story.
Behind the train station is a dark area, but after that is a really huge mall, with many modern shops.
I found a restaurant with authentic food, not mainstream standard food... called restaurant Yuan. This is very clean and friendly people. I could speak Chinese with them.
Some church are nice to visit. There were little beggars and I feel very safe in this city.
Quiet location in a lovely restored old building on the outskirts of Brno. City Centre is easily accessible by tram no. 8 (end of the line is about 6-7 mins on foot from the hotel, the hotel sells tram tickets). Rooms were nice, cleaning service was very efficient, staff were friendly. There was a good variety of food available for breakfast, we rated this highly. So thoroughly recommended!
Excellent location and interesting architecture. The room was spacious with a comfy bed. Because of the location, we were able to quickly drop some stuff in our room while exploring the city. The hotel also has a rooftop terrace where you can get a wonderful view over the city.
The breakfast had lots of options and the service was excellent.
Location is good, city centre is easily reachable with public transport: bus stop is right next to the hotel, but the tram and the trolley are also quite close. Breakfast is exceptional and delicious, wide variety of food is available. Rooms are clean, beds are comfy.
My room was beautiful and newly-furnished. Everything was clean. Tasty breakfasts. Staff and manager of the hotel were kind and helpful. Near the building there is a tram stop and a direct tram to the main station and the city centre. I recommend this place!
Belcredi rates at the top of our worldwide list in terms of value for the money - it's not a five star hotel, but every aspect is excellent considering the moderate price. For example: nice bathrooms, great breakfasts, helpful staff and beautiful grounds.
The hotel is located within a walking distance to the city centre. The room was comfortable, had everything we needed for a short holidays, sparkling clean. There was great choice of food for breakfast. Staff was always extremely helpful.
Friendly staff, clean rooms, and good amenities generally. Gym was nice and the apartment we booked was huge. Hotel breakfast was ok but not a lot of vegetarian options which unfortunately is common in Czech Republic.
Nice friendly staff, location away from crowds, comfort big room and superb breakfast (much more than common breakfast food like ham, butter or jam). And you can take advantage of the boat stop near the hotel:)
Loved how close it was to the city Centre and not too far away from train station either. Definitely enjoyed the beer brewery and spa facilities, which were the main reason we booked the hotel.
The sleeping area was nice, bed with curtain, not the most comfy mattress but it was doable. Socket close to the bed. Perfect location in the city centre and cheap. Staff seemed nice.
The hotel is really close to the Brno city centre. Staff was nice, was able to quickly check me in and there was no waiting around. Other staff was nice and polite.
