We liked that Nice airport is just 1.5 hours from Gatwick, with trams to get us around the city to our hotel, a short and comfortable trip. We enjoyed seeing the old town, cathedral, the sandy beach and walking for miles on the Promenade des Anglais. The old town had interesting shops and a large variety of restaurants. It was lovely to visit the South of France, there was a great atmosphere.

What a lovely place to visit off season.
What a lovely place to visit off season. We opted to stay here for a few days on the way to Marseille for a rugby match at the start of February and we weren’t disappointed. Lots of lovely things to do while simply wandering around the town. Be warned that most museums are closed on Tuesdays while others were temporarily closed for works.

Nice is great, but it's a big city with all the problems that come with big cities, so be very wary of pickpockets especially as you first arrive and may be under pressure with luggage and finding your way. Pickpockets work in teams and may be smartly dressed and have good English and language skills they will offer help at ticket machines etc. BE AWARE I dragged a pickpockets hand out of my wife's bag. That said Nice is a lovely city with many restaurants serving generally very high quality food. Get the card for travelling on the tram network you can load it up on your smartphone.
Wayne's bar very good acoustic set 20.00/22.00 house band after that, Shapko after 22.00 for jazz and drinks, Plenty of restaurant's.
It is easy to visit Cannes, Menton, Villefranche, Antibes, St Rapheal, Monaco, Monte Carlo by train, all these stations place you very close to the towns centre's. Tip, booking easier on the UK Trainline app. Tip, try to avoid travelling back Monaco to Nice direction, between 15.30/17.30 trains are full of workers on daily commute. Fantastic area but don't let a pickpocket spoil it for you.

First impression of Nice was fantastic, starting at the airport. Very clean and modern. We got the tram from the airport as our hotel was a short walk from a stop. We followed others advise to walk to the next tram stop as they do not sell the normal cards at the airport meaning they charge a premium. I would strongly suggest doing your homework on how the tram, card and other transport systems work and once you know then it is great to use. Nice, despite having a small city feel has everything you could ever need. Plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. it has a really nice vibe and the people on the whole were pleasant and friendly...although they must take their lessons on queueing from the Italians! The whole city stretches along the beach. We went for the carnival which I can whole heartedly recommend, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Another huge advantage of Nice is the connections to other places along the coast such as Menton, Eze and Monte Carlo. We travelled by train and bus. Both are very reasonable and the train was fine with service level and timings. The buses are a bit more hit and miss we regards to timings with some routes only offering a bus every couple of hours.
The only real downside is the traffic.

Carnival, but there is more advertising in winter.
Carnival, but there is more advertising in winter.
The city is very beautiful because it has everything and you can quickly get from the sea to the mountains.
And it seems like a safe city, although there are many communities in this city that think they traffic anything :(

Walking through Nice is unlike any other city, clean, well maintained, beautifully presented. There is a real sense of pride and a relaxed holiday vibe, particularly along the stunning coast. A walk around the headland to old Nice is highly recommended.
Great location . Handy the Nice tram system , literally at the end of the road . Nice Ville station 5 mins walk away. Sobrilliant transport link location. The hotel is a totally adequate standard to explore Nice and surroundings . Transport links on the doorstep for Monaco, Monte Carlo , Eye, Cannes and Antibes. Main train station 5 mins away for main line, TGV and TER . Nice and theSouth of France is wonderful to explore from Hotel d'Ostende and your on a modest budget .
We normally use 4/5 star hotels with bars, pools etc but this wax the end of a drving holiday and there was limited availability in Nice. We took a big chance, as it wasn't cheap, we booked too rooms snd overall we were very happy. Tram is very close to Airport or City. We were on 7th floor and had sea view between apartments facing, lovely. Its one block back from the sea/Prom. We absolutely loved Nice and staff here were really nice. Aircons almost too good.
well, you need to know , you are booking cheap acomodation in center of NICE, remeber, you py for locality not for acomodation.
but you can survive. Look , is ok, you can sleep there, there is toilet and shower , and you are really really 5 steps from CENTER, OLD TOWN and 10 steps from beach. Soooo let say, dont expect 5 stars hotel for this money. as I write, for few days, amazing, becouse you save money for something else- amazing food forexample.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Westminster Hotel during my trip to Nice, France, and overall, it was a wonderful experience. From the moment we arrived, the hotel's warm hospitality and stunning amenities left a lasting impression.
The check-in process was seamless, and the staff was very friendly and attentive throughout my stay. My room boasted beautiful views of the sea and was tastefully decorated, creating a cozy atmosphere.
This is a great little hotel on a quiet street a short walk from the sea front, tram and train stations and city centre. The hotel team were very friendly and helpful, providing some great 'insider' tips for our day trip to Monaco. The room was a good size compared to other comparable hotels we have stayed in in France, very comfortable and had everything we needed for a great long weekend.
Would highly recommend to other travellers to Nice.
The location was perfect - you are in a walking distance to everything and that was definitely the best part!! The staff was very friendly and went above and beyond. The only problem is that most of the staff doesn't speak English so be prepared for that. The rooms have AC which is a big thing in France. I personally had nice views from my window. There are towels you can use to go to the beach.
Very nice hotel, very clean, close to Old Town and other train stations, very comfortable beds and pillows.
Staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Mihaela and Hanna.
Free water and coffee from the arrival kept our luggage before and after the departure.
Everything was very pleasant.
Definitely, I recorded this hotel and would like to stay again in the future .
Highly recommend the Le Meridian Nice hotel with ocean view balcony. Amazing views of the Mediterranean. Close to Old Town Nice. Great rooftop restaurant and bar. The staff was friendly and professional. The general manager personally greeted us. Very clean, with comfortable bed and roomy bathroom. We really enjoyed our stay here.
The hotel is within easy walking distance to the Promenades des Anglais, numerous outdoor cafes, and the old town area. The promenade and streets are teaming with people, so you feel safe during an evening out. We had a nice view of the church across the street and the windows were good quality in regard to sound deadening.
The hotel was very close to Nice Ville Station which was a bonus for us as we were taking the trains to get to other parts of the South of France. It's very quiet at night and the room was a lot more spacious than expected, the balcony was a plus! Very cheap compared to other boutique hotels in Nice during November.
In the first place, I would single out the staff. I have never experienced such kindness and well done to both the hotel and France. Everything was perfect in the hotel. Best possible location. Breakfast is perfect and very varied. In this price range, I don't think anything could have been better.
Cute little hotel in the Upper part of Nice, above the harbour.
The staff is super friendly and helpful on where to go and what to see!
Walking distance from the tram station that takes you to Old Town but you can easily walk anywhere.
Excellent aircon in the room for the coastal heat!
Nice, clean hotel.
Very good location, very quiet place, but in the city center, short walking tour to train station, trams, promenade, old town etc.
24-hours reception, friendly staff.
Breakfast could be a bit more varied, but it is typical for hotels in France....
Beautiful views in to the sea. Our suite had a nice large terasse.
Nice rooftop pool but you got to be able to get a bed. Crowded.Nice places to visit by train Juan Les Pinnes, Cannes and Monaco. Trains tickets and tram tickets are extremely cheap in France.
Good coffee, no eggs today though because apparently they don't eat eggs in France on May 1st! Who would've guessed? Close to airport, fifteen minute walk. Tram 2 takes you to the port, old town etc.
Nice reception lounge where you can hang out.
- Rooms are aesthetically beautiful, really nice bathrooms and decor!
- Close proximity to Nice-Ville station which is amazing if you are doing day trips to other towns in the South of France via train.
