Such a beautiful little seaside village that comes to life at night. Could have stayed longer and enjoyed the views, vibes and people. Also we found the pricing cheaper for food and drinks. I must stop

The room was clean and relatively new looking.
The room was clean and relatively new looking. There is no wifi or tv in room. They have wifi at the bar and should be able to get it to rooms with routers but have not bothered. The bed was a disaster, it was hardest bed I have ever tried to sleep on. My wife and I both hardly slept and had sore back in the morning. We have been travelling for over 5 weeks had no problem with any other beds.

There is a great vibe at Matala that differs from the rest of Creta. The hippie feel is true. We caught live music the night we were there and it was the best moment.
This along with the red beach - strongly recommend.

Matala is a tourist hot spot.
Matala is a tourist hot spot. So a lot of restaurants there, lot of tourist shops with souvenirs and a lot of people. The beach itself is not that big, but it was nice though. I mean it really depends on what you are looking for. I am more fond of less crowded and less touristy places, so perhaps next time I would look for something more matching my preferences. On the other hand there is nothing wrong about Matala at all. All the people there are very friendly. Really it depends on what you prefer...

Matala is a quiet little town with not a lot of traffic, music or noise. You come here to relax. If you like naturist beaching this place is definitely for you (Red beach and Komos beach).
Moreover, Matala can be a good base for visiting the area (you have to rent a car or a bike).

Beautiful little hippie Place with lots of Restaurants, Bars and Cafés.
The beach in matala, the red beach and the caves of matala are a must see. When you are in matala I would recommend the Restaurants Georges Yard, Plaka and Hakuna matata.
Hotel has very good location, its rooms are well arranged, have spatious bathrooms and functional, efficient HVAC units. The stay was without any problems. Distance to the beach is around 500 m, similar to the main attraction, the old (roman and early Christian) caves delved in the face of the cliff hanging above the beach. Hotel has modest but clean, well maintained pool. Breakfasts, included in the cost of our room, were decent, nothing particularly excellent, but wide variety of dishes and products, organized in convention of Swedish table.
We adored the fact that we could get up and literally walk to the stunning Matala beach and at the same time enjoy our privacy in the cosy Cactus Room with the cute and aesthetically delightful terrace of our own! We could literally walk to the restaurants and bars within minutes. Most of all we adored the room owner and we are beyond grateful for the hospitality and friendship! Thank you so much for the pleasant stay!
The location of the hotel could not be better. A 2 min walk to the beach, a 2 min walk into gorgeous Matala village. Red Beach is close but quite a difficult hike up and back.
We stayed in El Greco apartment which was a perfect size for our family of 4. The bedrooms are spacious with their own bathrooms.
Breakfast was fabulous and the staff were incredibly kind
Matala is a small town, and the hotel is a little outside, maybe 5 minutes walking from the Beach/town. The Breakfast was ok, i visited 3 other Hotels and this seems a standard Breakfast in the Island. The hotel has a pool what makes it perfect for after or before the beach. The room was big enough and we had a "big" terrase, where we could even hang our wet clothes.
Breakfast was excellent and plentiful, with lots of choices. This is a large hotel with an excellent location in the center of Matala on a beautiful beach The rooms are a bit tired, but considering the other advantages of the hotel, the value for money is good. Well-kept green spaces Free parking. If we visit Matala again, we will stay at this hotel.
The location is amazing - very close to shops, restaurants, and the main beach in Matala. But tucked away on a quiet street, so that our time at the hotel was restful. It's a family-run business, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I had made a mistake with my booking and they were very accommodating. I'd highly recommend Hotel Sofia!
Xenia’s Dias is in an excellent location for walking everywhere in Matala, and an added bonus is the free parking on sight. The bed was very comfortable, our room was quiet, everything was spotless, and the staff was very helpful. The free breakfast at a nearby cafe was delicious and came with a great view of the beach.
Absolutely stunning view from the room! I screamed from joy when we entered the room. It was like being in an aquarium :))) Hanging high over the beach, view of the whole village and the bay, sunset, airy, the studio was a very nice size, open space with a living room part and a lovely kitchen, huge fantastic fridge.
Wonderful cozy apartment with kitchen which has a comfortable terrace with amazing beach view! Everything was clean, wifi worked well. It perfectly fits for 1-2 people or a couple with a kid. Manager Eva is very nice and friendly. Thank you!
Amazing hotel in Matala! The family who run it are so kind and hospitable. The rooms are extremely clean and the beds are super comfortable. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach and the centre of Matala. Can’t wait to return again :-)
The staff was really helpful! The appartment is not in the main road so is kinda quiet but you are very near to the beach, stores and taverns because Matala are so small. We have a really nice yart to sit, relax and smoke.
The location is perfect: just in the center and near by the beach but at the same time in a very quite area. The terrace was very nice and had some shadow, We loved this hotel. Unfortunately we stayed just for one night.
The apartment is very good for a short stay at Matala. It's 10 minutes walking distance from the beach and the restaurants. The bed was comfortable. It was very easy to communicate with the owner, Vaso.
The location was just perfect, no need to stay on the beach when you can just walk down and take a swim. The night view of the Matala rocks is amazing. We had the best holiday here.
There is nothing that can compare to the view and the proximity to the beach, including the path to the beautiful Red Beach! Eva, the manager, was responsive, helpful, and bun!
Friendly staff and good facility. Close to the center of Matala and easy to walk to. Great if you want to see near Matala but not too close to the center. Quite area
This was our favorite hotel in our time in Crete. Well run, unique, friendly, modern, real queen-size bed not just two twins put together. Good breakfast offerings.
