Spanning 11 kilometres between the Adriatic Sea and one of the most famous lagoons in the world, Lido is a narrow and long island located just in front of Venice’s Old Town. Beach resorts, hotels and private villas replaced the vegetable gardens 160 years ago that provided tranquil settings for poets and writers like Lord Byron and Thomas Mann.
Probably one of the first beach resorts in the world, its first facility opened in 1857 and soon became a success. Nowadays, it constitutes a peaceful suburb that claims its golden past once a year during the Film Festival, and offers a quieter setting for your accommodation than central Venice.
There are actually three different villages on the island. Lido itself is located in the north, and includes most of the hotels and the Venice Casino. The smaller Malamocco and Alberoni are situated to the centre and south respectively. The sea-facing side of Lido Island is a succession of sandy beaches, mostly belonging to different resorts and hotels.
Gran Viale Santa Maria Elisabetta is the island’s main street, leading from the ‘vaporetto’ water bus pier to the sea. There are buses running on the island, while direct waterbus links to Venice Marco Polo Airport are also available.

Very close to the buzzing city of Venice (only minutes by Vaporetto) but away from all the noise and crowded streets. Perfect place to relax in the evening. Very nice restaurants, B&Bs and even a beach where you can sunbath and swim. We used to stay in Venice but now we always stay here.

Feels like a typical Italian village, but it's only a ten minute boat ride to piazza San Marco. It's quiet, but elegant. The bars and restaurants I tried - on the main boulevard and along the canal - were excellent.

I have stayed on the fabulous island of lido several times as I love it there and it only takes 20 minutes to get to Venice by vaporetto boat, the island has many very good hotels, apartments, restaurants, bars, shops and a great long beach where there is the wonderful blue moon beach bar, there is a wonderful relaxing vibe to the island, where the vaporetto boat arrives you can get buses or taxis around the island and you can get a boat from Marco polo airport which takes about 50 minutes.

I didn't go to the beach, I went to a ceremony in the Palazzo del cinema. Lido is a quiet place with beautiful houses and a beach. You can see the sunset from the water front and Venice which was very pretty. I heard that it's quite dead in winter time, but end of September was perfect, quiet but still lively.

Lido is not Venice in the sense we are used to.
Lido is not Venice in the sense we are used to. This is the beach area of the Venetian Lagoon, but the quality of beach holidays is clearly inferior to other places. Therefore, who wants to visit Venice itself must go to another island of the Venice Lagoon. But for a beach holiday it is better to choose another place.

I'm so happy we chose to stay on the Lido Island versus on Venice mainland. When we took the hotel complimentary boat to St Marks, we saw people rolling their luggage through the cobblestone streets, steps and bridges to get to their hotels. Not to mention all the people walking around with the noise, etc. The hotels on Venice looked small, and from what I understand, not a lot have AC.
As far as night life on Lido, we walked to a few restaurants only to be turned away because we didn't have reservations when the restaurants were clearly empty. We did find a nice restaurant called Valentino, it was very good and the staff were amazing. We met a staff member from the hotel and he took us to the locals night life. It was so nice, there is not a dumpy area at all on the Lido-Venice, just be sure to make reservations.
The position of the hotel is wonderful. On a very quite island with a lot of local restaurants and bars - both luxurious and inexpensive. Safe heaven from loud Venice. 5 min walking to a private beach, 15 min to a public beach. Easy commute on buses to reach water tram or local supermarket. 15 min takes with a river tram to reach Venice. Staff is very pleasant, careful and considerate. Cosy breakfast in small canteen had been always the best way to start a day.
Best location - the beach is just across the street.
Great breakfast - in addition to traditional Italian breakfast, there are vegetables and Camembert.
Nice spacious room with a cute little balcony and good a/c.
Friendly helping staff (especially Mika and Romeo)
The boutique hotel has very good vibes, we truly enjoyed staying there. We chose this hotel based on Booking reviews but in reality it even exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended.
Charming place, good location and value. All conveniences. Friendly staff. Direct, albeit busy line to the airport. Quick boat drop to the rest of Venice. Decent island with promising beaches that was not crowded during spring. Outdoor, grounds and terraces of the hotel are fantastic and must be cool asset in the warmer season. The place was everything I looked and hoped for, minus the underwhelming breakfast.
It was a beautiful hotel 1920’s ArtDeco period.
Lovely room plenty of room a small very practical room with great facilities.
A balcony to have your coffee & view the everyday life.
I would highly recommend the hotel.
Clean & with a court yard it was a super place to stay.
10 mins from a white sandy beach with a cafe serving fresh food.
A consistently excellent 5 star hotel, on the Lido away from the tourist crowds of downtown Venice but still close enough to visit easily, a great base for the Biennale. Mix with Italian families enjoying the beach and a spritz or two, best of all, hire a cabana on the beach, it’s pure class.
The great little hotel is in a very quiet area but very close to the fabulous beach, shops, restaurants, bars and public transport,my room and bed were very comfortable and although breakfast was not included in my booking I was offered free coffee, fruit juice and pastries
Although we travelled out of season and the hotel was only partially full, the breakfast was surprisingly various and very good. We appreciate friendly staff, possibility to check-in hotel late evening, perfect location near to the beach.
The location of the hotel directly at the beach, breakfast room also at the beach, the exhibition in the main hall was impressive, and the style of the hotel feels very pleasant, especially the long quiet corridors and internal gardens
Very nice location, close to vaporetto.
Many nice restaurants around.
Generally liked staying at Lido, beautiful island and as a bonus you can go to a beach
Very nice breakfast at the hotel is a plus.
Staff was nice
We were looking to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Venice. This hotel provided a balance, there were restaurants and stores close by without having to be in city center. The staff is friendly, the bed comfortable.
the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was small but comfortable and clean and had a beautiful view. it was perfect for me and the breakfast was very good. I would highly recommend this hotel the location is ideal
Location of Hotel was very convenient to Marconi beach. 5 minutes from the event that we were attending to.

The host family is very nice and welcome. They have given a gift for my daugthers birthday. The beach is very beautiful and close to the hotel. Family room is also big enough.
Staff were excellent. Breakfast great. The hotel oozed charm. The location on Lido Island was perfect, close to the beach but very quiet at night. I would stay there anytime
