I was only staying in Bergen as I wanted to be close to Alkmaar where I travelled to from the hotel. The buses were very clean and nice to travel on but unfortunately they did not run at the scheduled times, I found i had longer waits than anticipated.

Bergen has a nice atmosphere, a great selection of restaurants and a few pleasant shops too - far more than you would expect from a modest sized village. It's a short cycle ride to the beach and an even shorter ride to Alkmaar so it makes a perfect base for exploring this part of North Holland.

We biked (+/- 10 minand walked (+/-40 min) to the beach and enjoyed the beautiful outdoor area of the apartment. The open-plan kitchen was very convenient and the family loved gathering around the big table for games and meals. The master bedroom was very comfy, the other bedrooms are bit dark and tight. So, only for sleeping intended.JuliaGermany
