The trails in the forest around the palace are freely accessible to those who arrive on foot or by cycling. The hotel staff is caring and the food service and restaurant staff are fantastic. The hotel has a homey feel to it, and its beautiful setting encourages you to get outdoors and explore. The breakfast is amazing. We hope to return!

In the Bussaco National Forest, this 5-star hotel occupies the hunting palace of the last Portuguese kings. Its elegant restaurant offers a range of exclusive Bussaco wines. Classic French cuisine and traditional Portuguese dishes are served at Palace Hotel do Bussaco’s restaurant. It is decorated with paintings by João Vaz, Moorish ceilings and exotic hardwood floors. Guests can try a glass of rare Port vintage at the bar. The individually decorated rooms have a classic décor and satellite TV for a modern twist. They all include antique furniture, ranging from 18-century to Art Nouveau pieces, and some rooms overlook the hotel’s extensive gardens. Palace Hotel do Bussaco is an excellent example of Manueline-Gothic architecture. Its richly decorated corridors feature antique furnishings, large paintings and traditional Portuguese glazed tiles. In the heart of the Serra do Bussaco, Palace Hotel do Bussaco is about 18 miles from Coimbra.
