Built more than a century ago in 1854, the Shaw House Inn was the first home in Ferndale. It is a solidly built of old growth redwood. Seth Shaw created a spacious and beautiful family home that has hosted travelers comfortably since 1860. The rooms are large, with lots of windows and light. The Inn sits on one acre of lush park with trees and roses planted in that time. There are redwood, sequoia, cedar, maple and walnut along with apple trees and a blooming 135 year old rose. Tables. chairs and benches are tucked all around for our guests.

We are in California's beautiful North Coast. Redwood Parks surround us, all within a quick and easy drive. Ferndale is a Victorian Village, growing up in the 1850's. Our tiny town is 5 blocks of shops, gallery's, restaurants, surrounded by the beautiful Victorian homes. We have it all. Put on a wetsuit and surf in the morning, hike the redwoods in the afternoon, do a wine tasting or two in the late afternoon. It is rural and sophisticated. A sanctuary and an adventure!
