A breathtakingly beautiful property , with attention to minute detail with a caring and friendly team that delivered an outstanding experience .
The cuisine and service at the award winning Teracu restaurant on the property was simply amazing showcasing the best ingredients in a hearty but yet beautifully presented plates.
Jorge, Francisca , Rafael, Maura and Alexandra were spontaneously warm and hospitable and made the Douro valley stay one of the most memorable highlights of our two and a half week trip to Portugal. Each of them were experts in their respective fields and went out of their way to make it a very special and delightful experience for us.We will surely visit this property again and recommend it to all our friends and family..
Thank you guys for making it so!

Each day dinner was an amazing experience. Visiting the winery and the wine tasting sessions are, to my mind, obligatory. Wonderful wines, drink slowly, they keep topping you up....

Sara and Pedro were really exceptional hosts. Very friendly, kind, generous and informative. There were many unexpected additional services based on an honesty box. The facilities were excellent and the hostel was spotless. A really top class experience to be highly recommended!

We liked the idea it was private, however, it wasn’t. We liked the idea of the pool and the terrace, however, we were not able to use them due to the weather. The breakfast basket had nice food in it, but the apartment wasn’t very well equipped given there were no scissors to open the milk carton with.

I recommend staying at least a night at Douro hostel, a home away from home (and honestly the best hostel I've ever stayed in, more like a guest house). Staying a night will give you the time you need to explore the hills, vineyards. Make sure to pop into the local butcher for some incredible cured pork and cheese!

We drove to Pinhão.
We drove to Pinhão. The roads are slightly terrifying but the views are spectacular.
We were there in March so not everything was open. Best restaurant was Writers Place! The walking trails through the vineyards were fantastic!

The perfect spot to explore some of the lovely Quintas the Douro Valley has to offer. Would definitely recommend Pinhao as your base. We drove to Pinhao from Porto which was great for sight seeing and super easy. We visited the three Quintas that are within walking distance from Pinhao train station which were lovely. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance for dinners or lunch where possible. But we also did a few walk ins.

Pinhao is stunning. with good selection of restaurants in the evening. Beautiful wineries. As the wineries are built into cliffs the drive to Pinhao and around is not for the faint hearted. The roads are very narrow some without safety barriers. However if you can get past this it is worth it for the scenary. It is a sleepy village but everyone is so friendly. One or two days maximum is enough.

Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro.
Excellent location on an S bend on the river Douro. Sleepy village atmosphere but with plenty of activities around the railway boat trips and quinta wine tasting. Some good restaurants. Wonderful views if you climb up through the village. Watch out for the dogs though - they are always enclosed but can be extremely aggressive.
The 2 bedroom apartment is vast and has a small balcony with a view of the Rio Pinhão. The beds are comfortable and Ana has made sure that we have everything we need to make our stay pleasant. The fridge and freezer were well supplied, we had a surprize cheese plate awaiting us, hot, fresh bread every morning, an extensive list of things to do in the area. Ana was kind enough to help me with suggestions for a special restaurant for Valentine's Day. There's also a washing machine. We're staying here again if we return!
Quinta De La Rosa is a beautiful place to stay. The staff were so helpful and pleasant and our accommodation was superb - clean, spacious and perfect for our needs. Lovely swimming pool which was great and we loved our walks around the quinta. We dined at the restaurant and the food/service was fantastic and location could not be beaten. We really enjoyed the wine tasting and found this a perfect place to relax as well as to explore the Douro region. No issues with car parking which has been mentioned by other reviews.
Rita and Pedro, the hosts, are very warm and genuine people who care about making my stay as good as it can be. This is my second visit to this property from the US and would stay no where else in the Douro Valley. They discreetly deliver a wonderful breakfast in a basket to your door each morning. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. This is NOT a hotel, it is large rooms within a wonderful, large house in the heart of Pinhao
The region is beautiful and the location of the hotel is very privileged. The views from the vineyards are breathtaking. Staff were friendly. We had a great experience at Cozinha da Clara for dinner and the breakfast served there was also good. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was a file in the room with information about the region and the story of the winery which was interesting and a nice touch.
LBV was such a fantastic surprise.
The hotel, really a first class guesthouse,is beautifully designed. I say guesthouse because they don't offer any food other than breakfast, which is perfectly fine given that they have a really good restaurant down the road in Pinhao. Our room, number 2, was beautiful and the balcony huge, overlooking the stunning pool area.
First of all two staff Pedro and Sara were very very wonderful.
Their attitudes for the guests and friends is amazingly friendly, and gave us many nice advices and suggestions to enjoy Pinhao and around.
The room is very clean and the rooftop garden is also wonderful.
I could appreciate 4 Douro and Porto wine tastings and replied some to "HONOR BOX".
Helena was an absolutely wonderful host! Also, many thanks to Daniela for all of her help and suggestions on local attractions! Helena's Family House is truly a home away from home - very clean, comfortable, spacious and in a great location just up the hill from downtown Pinhao. The delicious breakfast served every morning was a delightful perk too!
The Vintage House is the absolute best place to stay in Pinhao with comfort and beauty. It is a lovely property along the Douro River, a converted wine house with a delightful feel as you walk the halls of this beautifully appointed property. The outdoor amenities and views made this our favorite property of a two week vacation.
This is an exceptionally clean and well cared for place, a short walk from the train station in Pinhão.
The kitchen is very well equipped, including bottled water, butter, jam, milk, cereal, tea and coffee. I was so surprised to receive breakfast each morning! Tânia was a very responsive host and very helpful with my questions.
Pedro is an exceptional host with the best recommendations. This felt more like a boutique hotel which fit in nicely for Douro Valley. Supreme location to hiking trails, a walk along the river, and fresh orange picking :D Everything was very clean and well-thought out. Breakfast and shared fridge (PWYC drinks) was a nice touch.
A very nice place to unwind and relax in following some hectic days travelling. The apartment was close to the centre, spacious and clean with everything you needed. The terrace afforded fabulous views over Pinhao and the Douro and pool looked inviting, although we didn't use it. Breakfast included.
Although we were on a Homeboat on water, we did not feel any movement, the boat is well anchored and we had a good night sleep.
The hosts were excellent and the basket in the morning with our breakfast included in the stay
It was a very nice experience in Pinhao on the Douro river
Bed was comfortable, adequate breakfast to get you started. Friendly host. Convenient location for visiting renowned Quintas and small village of Pinhao. Nice rooftop pool. Try to do tour of owners property and wine tasting.
Lovely location. Pinhao is a beautiful town and all the places in the town are walkable. The host Francisco made our stay memorable and helped us at every stage. The house has all the facilities and makes one feel at home.
Perfect location. Isolated from the touristy places right outside. It was an oasis. I can not imagine staying anywhere else in Pinhao. It made the entire experience special.
The location is very central to Pinhao and the nearby quintas. The terrace would be great for a sunny day. The kitchen was well-equipped for our needs.
