Monkton Court House B&B, hotel in Dunkeswell

Monkton Court House provides self-contained accommodations in Honiton with free high-speed WiFi and private entrances. The accommodations are 31 km from Exeter.

This B&B is a gem of a place to stay. It is wonderfully located. The owners greet you on arrival and the room is stunning. The best I've stayed in, with wonderful facilities, spotlessly clean and beautiful touches everywhere. The breakfast menu is superb and you choose what time you would like it delivered to your room. It was restaurant quality with perfect poached eggs! We will be staying again and cannot recommend high enough

Wonderful place with very friendly staff.

Wonderful place with very friendly staff. Julie and Zara were extremely helpful and offered to help in anyway. A warm welcome from the moment we walked in. The room was an upgrade and had a lovely view of the lake.

A very beautiful place but we had gone with the intention of walking but unfortunately there wasn’t really any walks we could do from the site. We expected to be able to do king signposted walks from the site across fields etc but the only one we was told about would mean walking along a lot of no pavement roads

This hotel is NOT for DISABLED!

This hotel is NOT for DISABLED! This hotel is not for fine dining. Room was always warm and well-appointed for able bodied folk. This site is for pet lovers, able bodied. I was disabled so required to be driven from the room to and from the restaurant, as I said this is no place for the ambulatory challenged as much of the site is heavily large gravelled paths making it impossible to use my wheelchair. The fact that we were roomed up a graveled hill of steep incline, another reason we felt imprisoned when in our room. As a note for all disabled people booking new hotels use booking agents AFTER you have spoken directly with site management.

Close to south coast if you don’t mid a 30 min car journey.

Close to south coast if you don’t mid a 30 min car journey. We went to Lyme Regis for the day which was cracking. We ate at a place called the waters edge cafe in Lyme which was spot on not cheap but you get what you pay for brilliant experience friendly staff and food was amazing it’s a tiny little place down a back street you wouldn’t even know was there. Seaton was nice for a walk as well early evening. Lots of shops near by and fuel stations. It is easy to get around dunkeswell as long as your not in a rush rural setting area of natural beauty.

There is gliding and parachuting in the local area and the hotel grounds are spectacular. For us it was just a base to break our journey enroute to a family funeral and it was within 30mins to the coast which made our stay at the Manor very pleasant.

There was a museum at the Aerodrome but we didn't get a chance to visit, this was recommended by others. The country side is very pleasant and we weren't disturbed by the aircraft. Quite central for looking around the area and didn't have any problems finding places to eat and see.

Food was excellent and good value. We enjoyed the naturalistic setting. The hotels best asset were the staff, who were friendly and accommodating. We regularly went searching for Gary the goose and loved the baby moorhens.Whilst we did not realise that the primary function was as a fishing spot when we booked, there was a varied number of activities nearby,as the hotel benefits from a location on the Devon /Somerset border.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and made us very welcome. They even offered us a lift back to Dunkeswell airfield the next morning if someone was available. Beautiful surroundings. Breakfast was amazing, great value for money. Within walking distance (25 minutes) of Dunkeswell airfield. Ideal for pilots flying into Dunkeswell and needing a nightstop.

Breakfast was lovely and plentiful. Quick and efficient service, nice selection to choose from. We have manor 3 which is a room in the hotel, and on a super hot day having a fan helped to cool the room down overnight.
