Very welcoming and friendly staff. Single bed very comfortable with a firm mattress. Staff very welcoming to our dogs, and you only charged a basic fee for them which was good. Hotel in a good position for walking dogs to beach, and also close to the shops.

Out of season it is quiet and a lot of the shops/pubs/cafes have limited opening times. If you want a break from a busy life, it feels relaxing. The lanes can be narrow and winding, the views out to sea from Porlock Weir are great

Always somewhere to eat and drink.
Always somewhere to eat and drink. Most of the shops were open and a good selection. Easy to walk anywhere.
Locals are very friendly.
Do not confuse the Top Ship with the Bottom Ship! Same owners, similar menu and bar staff work in both. When booking a meal double check you have the right Ship

Porlock is an amazing place to visit!
Porlock is an amazing place to visit! It is old, very quaint. and quite special. It was an honor to roam the streets and check out the shops, particularly the Wortelberry Tea Room where we enjoyed cream tea, a UK favorite and now ours, and the museum. Neil and Tyrone were such gracious and helpful hosts.

Porlock is a little hidden gem in the County of Somerset, South West England.
There a so many different types of walks varying from Exmoor pony and Deer watching to exploring the wooded coombes with beautiful flowing crystal clear streams.
A walk through Horner wood is beautiful too and Webber's Post were you would almost certainly see the ponies close up.
The village of Porlock itself has 3 lovely pubs, which all serve food, plus a handful of tearooms. Whortleberry tea rooms and the Big Cheese both deserve mention.
I am a visitor to this beautiful place and find myself returning again and again to this beautiful friendly village.

Porlock Weir hotel is just down the hill from Porlock.
Porlock Weir hotel is just down the hill from Porlock. Right on the harbour front. There is a fantastic terrace by the harbour wall for eating wood fired pizza when weather is warm enough or just enjoy a drink whilst soaking up the view. There is a great lounge area. There is an informal bar area, where people with doggy’s sit. There is a lovely restaurant where breakfast, lunch and dinner are serviced. Porlock has lots on offer. Shops, small museum. Groceries. Cash point. Pharmacy and Miles tea. Whortleberry Tea rooms is a favourite and there is a great Cheese shop where you can grab a coffee and cake or a snack and stock up on a fabulous range of cheeses and chutneys.
Great B&B. Tyrone and Neil are great hosts and have done a fantastic job of refurbishing the guest house and doing the garden. Really well furnished, clean and comfortable and a good breakfast. Really good location for walks on the coast path or Exmoor. The village is well serviced with pubs, convenience stores and cafes. As well as walking we spent time at Porlock Weir, Dunster and the castle there and Cleve Abbey. Lots to do in the area. Will definitely return, wish I could have stayed longer.
I'm a returning customer (but not frequently)
My son and I travelled from Ireland by motorcycle to tour some of Somerset, Cornwall and Devon.
The Lorna Doone is ideally situated for a weekend such as ours.
Our hosts provided off road parking for us which was perfect for our needs.
The staff were extremely friendly and courteous and the breakfasts very good.
WiFi was spot on.
All told, it was very good indeed.
Breakfast was excellent. We were given an update on our room when we arrived, with a room and sitting room overlooking the bay. We choose our evening meal from an interesting and varied menu.Over the years we had visited Porlock Weir a number of times and always thought the hotel looked very homely and inviting, our visit proved this to be.
The facilities were great, so we could cook, relax and enjoy the immediate space that was provided. The location was perfect, very close to where my relatives live so made it easier to explore Porlock on foot. Everything was very clean when we arrived and the hosts were very accomodating. Would highly recommend this property.
Beautiful house in a beautiful location, only a ten-minute drive from Porlock. Lots of lovely walks straight from the house. Our stay there felt like a taste of luxury! Staff were very friendly and welcoming, and our room was lovely with a big comfy bed. Breakfast was delicious with a range of options to choose from.
Ship Bungalow is brilliant, so well appointed and kitted out. We felt like we were in a posh hotel ! The view of the sea from the sitting room window was lovely especially at sunset. There are fantastic walks from the door and everything you need in Porlock. We really wished that we could have stayed longer
Very beautiful and clean property, it really felt like a luxury retreat in the countryside. Breakfast was outstanding, plentiful and delicious. Various walking options possible from the b&b, Porlock Village (for eating out) were about 25 minutes walk away.
The breakfast was lovely. Plenty of choices and the hot food was well prepared. The location is great. Right in the middle of Porlock. Chris and Clare, couple that run it, are very very friendly and accommodating. They allowed to check in 3 hours early!
Perfectly located in the centre of Porlock with the massive bonus of brilliant parking at the rear. Hosts very friendly & helpful. Excellent breakfast with the best of local produce. Highly recommend and would stay again without hesitation.
Exmoor House is very comfortable & homely. Steve & Sally are fabulous hosts & the food was exceptional. Great area where you can walk into Porlock safely down the lane next to hotel.
Quirky old cottage in a central location for Porlock’s cafes, shops etc. also near the start of the walk to Porlock Weir.
Friendly couple, nice reception room, good breakfast.
The appartment was cosy and clean and in a good location to explore we have visited porlock for years but mainly camped so the appartment was alot comfier and warmer 😀
