I was not very impressed by Maribor.
I was not very impressed by Maribor. I had stopover here for one night during business trip. The historic center of the city is small, you can walk through it within an hour. Other parts of the city have typical socialist architecture from the time of Yugoslavia, which alternates with modern buildings. There are not many monuments or landmarks here. I definitely recommend visiting Ljubljana more if you choose cities in Slovenia to visit.

Maribor is nearly a good place to visit, but not quite.
Maribor is nearly a good place to visit, but not quite. The limited history is not looked after and presented well, for example the Pyramid hill has the remnants of a 12th century castle on top but it is completely overgrown with weeds and is not accessible. The grapevines on the pyramid hill are all dead and overgrown with weeds so its an unsightly walk to the top. The old town is nice but small and the side streets have been tagged heavily. Its not their fault, they were bombed heavily in the war so much of it has been lost. One day is plenty to have a look around Maribor on your way to somewhere else...

What a nice place Maribor is; a walkable centre with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly people, and good cafes and bakeries for breakfast, We had a good dinner on the terrace at Ancora on Jurciceva ulica, which we were actually sent to by the helpful waiter at Papagayo on Gosposka ulica, because they do a lot of gluten-free stuff, including good pizzas; being directed somewhere by someone from a rival establishment is not something that happens every day. There's a great ice cream place just at the south end of Stari most and good beer and cocktails at the places down on the riverfront.

We were in the theatre Lutkovno gledališče. MB has excellent shows for children. The language doesn't matter, you can understand👏👏👏
Guided tour is not too Long, stopped on the bank od River Drava. Walking, taking bus ...you can get all you wish.
Awesome hotel right in the city center of Maribor. Possible to be accommodated with a dog for 5€ fee. The hotel offers great breakfast and the reception is opened even during the night so it is possible to arrive late. Unfortunately, the hotel does not offer any own parking spots. However, there are several public parking lots in a vicinity of the hotel (app. 10€/night).
The 4 Rooms hostel is a nice, clean and well situated hostel in the very centre of Maribor. Our room was spacious enough to fit our needs. The price is fair and the host is carrying and very kind.
Thank you for the gas – although we didn't take it in the end. And by the way, we have survived the Triglav hike, so no news of lost Czech tourists there. :o)
- Perfect location if you want to visit Maribor
- The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. They give good advice for visiting the city.
- Not disturb during the night by the noise of the works on the river (just in front of the hotel) as they are working only during the day
- Breakfast was excellent
- Parking just next to the hotel
I first stayed in this hotel/hostel about 17 years ago, and it was good then and it's good now. Great value for money for a city centre hotel, particularly as all the other hotels in the centre of Maribor are way overpriced for what you get. Overall it is a nice, comfortable hotel with excellent staff and customer service.
I stayed in the studio apartment and it was perfect. I had a kitchen, great WiFi, and a room to myself but also had the option to be social in the common space if I wanted too. The hostel is not far from the city market so it is easy to find good food. The front desk was super helpful and the laundry service was free!
We booked a night here to rest on a roadtrip and it’s a nice comfortable hotel at a good location in Maribor. Perfect for a short stay, breakfast is ok and you can have a quick visit in this calm city as it is close to the center and you can leave your car at the hotel after checkout.
Spacious clean apartments. Great location, almost in the center of the city, but parking is 300 m away in a public parking. Includes only one free parking space per rental. You must get instructions from the apartment owners to park for free. Parking a second car costs 25 E per day.
Superb hotel located in the very historical center of the city. Everything is brand new and very clean, the room is large enough for 3 people, the owner is very friendly. There's an option for parking inside the court and also you can order breakfast. The city center is 100 m away
perfect and probably the best small hotel in the Maribor. Directly in the city center. We appreciatted eco character of the breakfast- as there was little staff of meal as cheese, ham, yogurt and than you could order eggs as you wish- beautiful omelette, scrambled eggs etc..
Breakfast was good, there is a private parking near hotel and city parking in 5-10 minutes on walk (as well as electric car chargers). The hotel is in pedestrian zone in city center which is very convenient for sightseeing. The room was equipped as expected for 3* hotel.
Located in heart of Maribor, we stayed in Garden Rooms (part of the hotel) and breakfast is served in another building so you just walk few meters. The food was excellent and staff at reception super professional and friendly.
Nicely equipped and clean room. Great location in the city center yet calm and peaceful. Breakfast was great, I would appreciated more fresh vegetables, but otherwise it was really nice. Staff was friendly and very helpful.
Truly amazing hotel! The room was super clean and spacious. Great facilities and the staff was super attentive and helpful! Secured parking. Quiet location but super close to the old city.
This accommodation was perfect. Nice spacious apartment, very Well equiped with awesome view on River. Parking was next to the building. Very close to city center. I really recommend it.
Nice hotel outside Maribor, close to the motorway. Very convenient for ones travelling through Slovenia to Croatia or Austria. Only 5 km from the city centre.
