Husband and I stayed one night to catch a fishing charter scheduled for the following morning. The location was perfect... Walking distance to food, shopping, marina and beaches... Rooms were clean and the staff was polite and helpful... Other than the few issues listed below, we would definitely stay here again and recommend others give it a try...
* The location of our room on the second floor, left us with no privacy, Unless we kept the drapes drawn, hotel guests stepping off the elevator were able to see directly into our room...
*Room key issues- Need to update system. Locked out twice...
*Paying to park in hotel parking lot

Beautiful place. Safe areas to cross traffic. Beautiful beach within walking distance. Nice selection of restaurants within walking distance and/or short driving distance.
Had to make several U-turns until I understood how the roadways were connected.

Lovely place to stay for decent rates and nice staff and pool! Clean and quick to all sites from Newport to San Diego. Stayed 40 years ago and it's the same great place. Nice some things stay the same. Must eat at top of Dana Point at Restaurant overlooking the Bay. Forgot name but really great prices for food and the normal price of California.

Dana Point is such a beautiful gem! There are so many things to see and do. We had done our research and didn't check much off the list since we were so content with everything right there in the harbor. We loved Dana Point very much and will definitely be back to see more!

Loved everything, the staff were all excellent.
Loved everything, the staff were all excellent. Carmen, Dano, Erin, Tony manager, Brandi, all were friendly helpful and welcoming. The entire staff were all excellent, including the cooks, and housekeepers. We had a blast and had the time of our lives.
Very friendly and helpful staff. The location right at the marina was great. Parking was included. Best included breakfast I've had since Covid. Instead of paying $70 for stand up paddleboarding ($40 all-day board use, $30 transportation of board to and from beach) at Killer Dana shop, I rented a board for $25 an hour from a dock close to Baby Beach. A wide variety of restaurants and bars are within walking or short drive. The town of Dana Point and their recreation department do a good job of keeping the area clean and safe.
First of all, the staff was very nice and apologized for the major renovations going on in the hotel. We arrived and there was lots of jack hammering going on, the lobby was all tarped off, so no pool, no food off of the menu was available at the rooftop lounge. The only food available was frozen pizza from the grocery store and frozen egg rolls. It would have been nice for booking .com to alert consumers that this hotel is under major renovations and no food service nor pool is available.
This is a great location with good walks around quayside and up hill into the shopping/gallery Del Prado Avenue area. A small beach is nearby, and whale watching trips leave from near the hotel. Restaurants nearby are to suit all pockets, but a couple are very expensive. Good value for money, but parking is $15/day for the week I stayed. Helpful, very friendly staff.
Does the owner of this property know that commercial carpeting should be replaced once in a while? This was not a clean hotel and the room smelled so badly of mildew that I ended up driving home. Thank goodness I didn't have anything to drink for dinner. Do not recommend until they replace the carpet. The pool was the bare minimum furniture. Only 2 lounge chairs.
The hotel is fine. Obviously a great location. The rooms, the facilities are just NOT a $600-$700/night worth of an experience. I travel the world ALL the time and I have stayed in far nicer places (with a much more expensive experience) for these prices. We had to be there for a wedding. Would not go back for those prices. Would for ~$300/night.
WE LOVED THIS HOTEL!!!!!! FROM START TO FINISH THE HOTEL WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND - WE FELT VERY PAMPERED HERE - THE STAFF (CATHY) WAS AMAZING AND EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT. THE ROOM WAS AMAZING AND THE BED FELT LIKE A CLOUD. WE HAD A PATIO SUITE AND THE VIEWS WERE AMAZING. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL AND LOOK FORWARD TO GOING BACK!!!
it was in a good location near the water and a short walk to the free trolley stop which took you around Dana Point, San Clemente
or into Laguna Beach. There were several restaurants, shops and cafes within short walking distance from the hotel
Very seldom when you travel does a hotel exceed your expectations. The Blue Lantern and especially the wonderful stuff accomplished this. My wife and can’t wait to return.
Thanks again for making our stay so enjoyable.

Christine was amazing from the time we checked in, to when we checked out: 6 days total. The staff made sure we had everything we needed. Excited to go back when the new Dana Point Harbor Inn is completed.
The size of the room was great, it was clean, parking is easily accessible and staff was very friendly. Really cool little hotel, close to the beach and relaxing atmosphere despite the road in front of it.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. Great location for exploring Dana Point & the OC. Fridge in the room and spa bath were nice extras. Lots of variety at breakfast.
