Cairns is both a hub of activity and a gateway to adventures within a few hours of travel.
It has an ambient climate with all the services and culture you’d expect of a much bigger city. There is so much to do in cairns and the public transport system is both convenient and well run.
There are so many adventures to be had on the Great Barrier Reef, Green Island and Fitzroy Island. Mission Beach, The Atherton Tablelands and The Daintree are all a day trip from Cairns.

Positive: Skyrail and historic train, nature, pool in Cairns, boardwalk, Botanical Gardens (absolute highlight!!!). Don't miss Emerald Creek Ice Creamery - lots of varieties and very yummy! Dundee's restaurant offered outstanding food and an incredible venue with a massive fish tank to look at while dining, it's pricey, but worth it. The Daintree is as exciting as ever. Solar Whisper Croc Cruise was really good. Daytrip to Atherton Tablelands was lovely. Rusty's market is a must! Only downside of Cairns: dining is fairly expensive in general.

We went at the start of the dry season.
We went at the start of the dry season. The weather was very warm but still humid.
Cairns central has great public facilities.
The swimming lagoon is fantastic for all ages and has surf lifesavers in attendance. BBQ cookers all along the Esplanade, excellent playgrounds.
Muddy Waters in particular, the kids went crazy.
Of course you go for the reef trips and the train trip and the Skyrail up to Kuranda village. A lovely day out in beautiful rainforest.
Port Douglas and Mossman are a drive north if you have the time, they are another must see in this scenic part of north Queensland.
A drive up onto the Tablelands opens up a different part of the area. Natural and historical attractions. It's worth the drive.

A worn and sadly lacking site.
A worn and sadly lacking site. It has all the hallmarks of investors who rake in the money but don't spend any money or maintenance and improvements. They could raise their star rating if they cared to invest in renovation., The lady at the front desk was very friendly;y. What a shame she has to represent such a sad venue.

The environment in general is the thing I liked the most.
The environment in general is the thing I liked the most.
There is little opportunity to interact with people outside of those in our circle of the delegation, including the hosts and those slotted in the program, during that trip. I would like to see more people to people interaction.
Our view, was a sea view, even though we were by the Marina.
It looked over part of the esplanade which we liked.
The hotel was across from the Reef Terminal, which was great as I was wondering how far we would have to walk to get there. I had booked the tour from home. Not even a five minute walk.
The hotel was close to many restaurants, just below or along the boardwalk.
We did some walking around town for souvenirs and shopping and even managed to go to the Cairns Aquarium.
The location is ok, close to the city. We hired a car, it's easier in Cairns if you want to explore all the beauties that the region is offering. We had an apartment which was ok, we had the chance to wash our clothes and to cook some meals (which is not bad if you travel for 40 days). We had to spend some times in the apartment, due to heavy rain and floods. likely the hotel is not situated next to rivers. The staff is super kind.
Fantastic apartment, loved our stay and perfect for all the family. Children loved the pool facilities and great outdoor area for us all.Staff were very accommodating and helped out lending us strollers for our stay. Location was probably the best in Cairns- beautiful views of the waterfront and esplanade and close to muddys playground and restaurants, shops and night markets. Just had the best holiday 😀Can’t wait to book again
Views were amazing. Quiet location but a quick and beautiful walk along the esplanade to everything at the harbor. But the best part was all the thoughtful touches, like milk and chocolate in the fridge, plentiful coffee pods, dishwasher and laundry detergent, and more than enough towels for our family of five. No scrimping! The apartment was clean, orderly, and very comfortable. Wi-Fi service was great. We LOVED our stay.
George was fantastic. He explained everything very thoroughly and was a pleasure to deal with. We would recommend staying with Casa Borghese. The vibe of the apartment was fantastic and in great condition. The amenity is 2nd to none.
The is a fantastic cafe for breakfast close by and a wonderful hotel to have a meal out of an evening aboout 300m up the road.
Good location as we had a hire car. Beds where really comfy and check in was good by the owner as we had to check in after hours which was a quick and easy process. The apartments were quiet and had everything we needed for our 5day stay in cairns. Secured car park which makes parking easy and close to all the shops by car.
Location was practically unmatched, amazing rooftop bar and the room was simple, but stylish and comfortable. The hotel was walking distance to pretty much anything worth seeing in Cairns City: the lagoon, Ferris Wheel, local restaurants, the esplanade, the aquarium, the art gallery, and much more.
Location of the hotel was good for checking out Cairns. It was also close to the Marina where boats leave for Great Barrier Reef Trips. The breakfast included in our rate was also good. The room itself was comfortable and the outside patio was nice to sit out on and watch the sunset.
The location of the hotel was perfect, so close to Cairns centre, the marina and the Esplanade.
The beds are soooo comfy!! Slept better than ever every night.
The staff were so friendly, so eager to please and help.
Beautiful view from my room balcony of the pool area and Cairns Esplanade/ocean. My bed was comfortable, bathroom was big, and the hotel is a close walk to all the essentials. You can also smoke on the balcony.
Apartments were clean and very close to amenities and pools and spa to keep kids entertained.close to Cairns Central Plaza and carins statio .just 10 mins fro. Esplanade.would recommend it strongly
I chose the hotel mainly for the location of my Cairns/Atherton region tour, as I didn't want to go to CBD to stay. For the rate of around $95, the room is clean, with the essential facilities.
Great location right near the Esplanade. The room was very clean and comfortable and we really appreciated the Nespresso machine. Would definitely recommend for a stay in Cairns.
Great location, opposite Cairns central, walking distance to Rusty's markets and easy flat walk to Esplanade. Plenty of room in apartment for family to spread out
