A stunning area in Austria, we stayed for 1 week for the skiing season which was perfect. We also thought that it would be a wonderful place to visit and stay, in Pension Rainer, for a walking holiday. The facilities, bars, cafes and restaurants were fantastic and everyone we met without exception were so welcoming, helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend and would definitely like to return again.

Ellmau is a nice village in the Brixental, with direct connection to the mountains. Nice place for skiing if there is snow enough. Later in the spring time they do the best to keep the slopes in a good condition and Skiwelt is a large area, so it's not difficult to find good slopes for skiing. Only when it is warm weather in the winter and many people comes (typically on Saturdays when many people from Munich comes here for one day skiing) then in the afternoon the condions for skiing are not so good like in the morning, it can be felt that the altitude of Skiwelt is not very high. Very good and nice restaurants everywhere for some lunch during the skiing day. We were satisfied with our family skiing stay.

In the summer, Ellmau is a sleepy and totally relaxing village with just enough restaurants and hotels to supply demand with out being crowded. We were provided with everything we could ask for in the apartment, and the outside balcony with extendable roof and magical views was great both during every time of the day. The apartment is placed in a calm location with a small river flowing nearby, however the town centre and shops weren't far off to get to. The rooms were designed to host large families and had the 1st elevator among all hotels in the region. The rooms are spacious and they overlook the mountain. The staff and service are great as well.
