Our flight was delayed so we arrived after the restaurant closed. The owner and his wife made us welcome, even though they had closed for the night. They very kindly opened a bottle of wine and made us a wonderful dinner. Throughout the stay their hospitality was amazing. The owner would not let us walk to the bus stop, instead he very kindly drove us all the way to Sidmouth in his own car! They really could not have done more for us!

    Very pleasant town.

Very pleasant town. Plenty of places to stop for a coffee or to eat in the evening. Close to Lyme Regis and Donkey Sanctuary and other attractions as well. Nice selection of shops. Very easy to get around the town. We ate in Dukes and at the Blue Ball in Sidbury.

    Sidmouth is utterly enchanting!

Sidmouth is utterly enchanting! I feel cheated that I didn't know about it before - it's like Bath's seaside cousin! Beautiful architecture, easy to walk around and a simply wonderful cove-shaped seafront with great cliffs at either end. We are planning to stay for a week next time.

    Sidmouth is a lovely town.

Sidmouth is a lovely town. Plenty of well known shops to peruse. Plenty of eateries to try out. Lots of hotels of different styles to choose from. Views are fantastic and so is the beach. Fields department store has a wide range of favourite clothing labels to explore & hopefully purchase. A very good bus service can take you to lots of Devon places and further.

Good choice of hotels and good shops in the town if the weather isn't great. (Loads of really good charity shops!) Not many restaurants are open in the evenings (especially early in the week) so you need to book in advance. Myca, Pea Green Boat and The Loft are all good. Much more choice at lunchtime and good coffee/tea shops with lovely cakes. The Scott cinema and Marine theatre are both sweet and worth a visit. Buses go to a few places if you don't have a car - and seem to be very reliable. Jacobs Ladder beach and the Connaught Gardens are well worth visiting and are nicer than the town beach yet still very close to the centre. Be aware that rocks etc can fall from the cliffs! The Jurassic coastline is amazing but it can crumble suddenly.

Sidmouth was a beautiful little seaside town with plenty of places to eat and drink! Dog friendly beach in winter and lots of dog-friendly pubs/cafes! Beach is shingle/large pebble so not for everyone, but there’s a promenade/path the whole way along! Lots of nice little independent shops & charity shops! Parking gets very busy so you’re better off parking in the ‘weekend and walk’ car park slightly outside town - not far at all! We visited in February but I’ve been told is gets very busy from May onwards. There is a folk festival on the first weekend of August every year which I hear is great (but very busy)!

Clean and friendly, lovely relaxing atmosphere. Great local pub, The Anchor, right in the middle of town, great service and food. Really good variety of shops, with hardly any vacant stores. Clean beach and great walk along the front. A very well kept resort which makes a change.

Woodlands Hotel is a real gem! From the warm reception at check-in, to the equally warm goodbye, the entire experience was positive. Clean room (everything worked), spacious public areas (conservatory, plus a huge and exceptionally well-maintained garden, with a stream running through it for added character) and a breakfast of freshly-cooked, quality ingredients, served piping hot. Sidmouth isn’t an area that features frequently on our travels, but Woodlands Hotel makes us wish it did! We’d happily stay here again.

We will stay at Sidmouth Harbour Hotel at least 10 more times over the next 5 years If you are going to Sidmouth (and you should), this is where you want to stay. Have tried several other more expensive hotels, but always keep coming back to Sidmouth Harbour Hotel. The staff and views and faultless in my experiences

Everything was excellent but the hotel could attend to some of the carpets in common areas. Threadbare in places. The decor could use a little TLC. This is a small thing, I really enjoyed staying at the Elizabeth. Great food, perfect location.
