South Beach Hotel, hotel in Troon

Facing Troon’s tranquil seafront, The South Beach Hotel offers brightly furnished rooms with private bathrooms, free parking, and is just 5 minutes’ walk from Troon’s center.

Breakfast Room was lovely albiet leaky, service totally hit and miss, felt staff did not listen to requests, felt they were just young and perhaps untrained, unable to think for themselves and do more than one thing at once. That said the food was lovely, no refills of coffee despite request.

Sandhill House, hotel in Troon

Featuring free WiFi and a sun terrace, Sandhill House offers pet-friendly accommodations in Troon. Free private parking is available on site.

We were more than pleased with our stay at Sandhill house. The owners, Peter and Elaine put their person touch into this lovely place that made us feel so welcome. The property was very well maintained with even more improvements in the works outside. The interior spaces were clean, nicely decorated, very comfortable, and inviting. The bathroom was quite large as was the sleeping area. We definitely did not feel cramped and had room for our various travel belongings. I especially enjoyed the very thoughtful "welcome" amenities such as tea condiments and glasses for wine; so nice that I felt quite pampered. Our room has a magnificent view of Toon and the sunset. It was also a very fun stay as we were well entertained by their friendly llama, Duke, and cute highland pony. Lastly, we enjoyed our classic Scottish breakfast in a nicely presented and elegant dining area and table setting. What more can I say? It was one of our favorite stays over the course of 3 weeks. Oh, and don't miss a meal at the very close Piersland Restaurant - we had an excellent meal there and service superb (book ahead).

Ideally Located Modern Flat, hotel in Troon

Ideally Located Modern Flat offers accommodations in Troon, a 4-minute walk from South Beach and 9 miles from Ayr Racecourse.

We used the flat to stay after a wedding so we only checked in at 11pm (easy to find lock box, parking on street outside) and were away again at 9am. So really can't comment much other than to say it suited us fine. Bed was comfy, it was clean, nicely decorated. And I'd imagine would also be good for a longer stay :)

I loved the size of the room and the complimentary robes & slippers. The view was also amazing - we were in a sea front privileged room. The location of the hotel was great. Plenty round about. The breakfast was also really great, we were pleasantly surprised.

I was born and brought up in Troon so I am biased.

I was born and brought up in Troon so I am biased. Troon is a lovely seaside town full of lovely freindly people. The town has a decent selection of shops. I found the town very quiet compared to how it was when I grew up.

Lovely wee coastal town with good eateries for every pocket and nice wee independent shops to explore. Swimming pool, library, pretty town hall and two scenic beaches. Troon is within easy reach of other Ayrshire seasde towns like Prestwick and Ayr. Kilmarnock is also within reach and Glasgow is an easy drive up the M77. However there is a train station too and if you enjoy golf you'll be spoilt Parking in the town is free and plentiful. Not a review of Troon per se but to holiday letters in general - these key boxes are murder on arthritic fingers - I have a splt fingernail with underlying blood blister to prove it. Ouch! Also note to Booking.com - please don't put a union flag beside my name in the reviews! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 FOREVER.

The food was imaginative, delicious and the chef met every one of my companion’s food allergies! The staff was very friendly and very professional. The room was lovely! There was no mold which was another allergy. Car park was on the property and the beach was across the street. It was exceptional!

My husband, Colin and I, love Troon.

My husband, Colin and I, love Troon. We live in Glasgow and it only takes about 40 minutes to get there, so we go as often as we can. There are excellent charity shops and a great travel agency (Stewart Travel) where we book all our holidays. We love the beach and the ice cream kiosk and on the first of every month there is an indoor car boot sale in the town hall. My husband loves the Pavillion chip shop and he also stays in Troon each winter for Winterstorm Rock Festival. I'm afraid I can't recommend the 3 Idiots Restaurant, as the food is overpriced and not very nice, and the service is dreadful. Avoid this place like the plague and you'll have a great time in Troon!

    Quiet and understated.

Quiet and understated. There are a few ok places to eat but nothing spectacular. The surrounding area is perfect for quiet walks. Maybe there was more to Troon but as we were only there for 2 days it's difficult to say we know it well.

Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. They were very accommodating, helping ensure we had a secure place to leave our bike overnight. The location was central and easy to find. I really like old hotels with character and this one had plenty! While the building is old, the bathroom was renovated. I really liked having a bathtub to relax in after cycling for the past 3 weeks. Breakfast was made to order, filling, and tasty. Quiet location and comfortable bed made for a good night’s sleep.

The location was excellent.. it was a nice layout except the very narrow walk between the tub...well supplied with utensils...living room couches and dining table were good....the neighbor was friendly.... I am originally from Troon and Love my beautiful hometown! My wife and I were discussing coming back to stay for a month and would certainly stay here again if the suggested repairs were completed! Bedroom was comfortable and a bit bigger than expected. Both mornings breakfast was very good and plentiful. Parking was convenient, free and plentiful. Location was convenient for short drive into Troon. Staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed using the external seating area at the rear when our two children came to see us. Good value for money and we would be happy to stay there again.

Lovely apartment. Very conveniently placed. 2 minutes from the Lido and a chip shop. Walking distance to the supermarket and beach. We were there in November, so weather wasnt great but it was cosy and everything there to make it a comfortable stay. 5 minutes drive to the Marine Hotel and Piersland House. Will definitely return

We had a great stay in Troon: the house was spacious (especially the enormous master bedroom), the location was great for a walk on the beach, communication was perfect. In short, we had everything we needed. We'll certainly be back when we are next in the area.
