A beautiful place, lots to see and would recommend at least 2 days in one area and 2 days or more in another. Lots to see beautiful sites, walks, nature,. Quiet and calm in some places, busy but lovely in others. Do use a bicycle, znd cycle the rice fields, local Taxis or the grab cars. Visit the bird Sanctuary but don't stay there. And do Tam coc boat ride...stunning, as is the walk to the dragon! Take your time if you can. While touristy its also got many non touristy areas...slow down smell the roses and enjoy. Ninh Binh has many places to visit, plan enough time. Have done Trang An boat trip, Bai Dihn Bigest Pagoda, Hang Mua. Amazing places. I hav eaten all my meals at Ha Lan Homestay, very good kitchen! With my rented motorbike it was esay to moove around, the scenery is awesome, so I am planing to come back and see the rest.

A lovely, peaceful area perfect for getting out of the city and into nature. It's been wonderful to see the steps the municipality have taken to clean up the area and protect the natural resources. Huge improvement from a few years ago! The town centre is vibey and best for travellers looking for a bit of a party. But Ninh Binh is surrounded by plenty of peaceful homestays that are perfect for relaxing. The best attractions are Trang An boat tours (don't bother with the Tam Coc boats), Mua Caves and look-out point, and biking around the little roads.SarahSouth Africa - 10Scored 10

Ninh binh as a city is nothing much.
Ninh binh as a city is nothing much. About 6-8km to the west are beautiful limestone karsts covered with vegetation with rivers running around and through them. Boat trips can be taken from tam coc or trang an. Trang an is prettier and less busy. The trips at both places take you to temples and pagodas, through caves. Trips last about 2-3hours. There are many others things to do such as trek in national parks, bird sanctuary, visit the largest temple Bai Dinh (go at 3, quieter and cooler and watch sunset from pagoda then walk down the hill with everything lit up). The most enjoyable thing to do is just be in amongst the karsts. Ride bikes or walk. It is hot and humid. More so than Halong bay. Avoid the heat of the day so take a long lunch break. I still personally prefer ninh binh limestone karst area. You have more control and variety of what you do. As my husband pointed out when we arrived at Halong bay it’s very similar. There is less pollution in trang an and it is greener.JulieAustralia

They provided bike rentals and good recommendations about things to see/do. They helped me book a bus to Hue and even provided me with a little care package of water and bananas for the long overnight ride. The owners drove me to the bus and made sure I got on the right one. They also provided a tasty breakfast every morning. The dorm was super simple but there was heat which was really great during the cold week I was in Ninh Binh.

The owner is a friendly and helpful lady. She made us breakfasts which were delicious authentic Viet dishes. There are motorcycles for rent and transport service from Noi Bai airport to the hotel and from the hotel to Hanoi or Noi Bai airport.

Great pool, bungalows are comfortable and spacious, and the staff went above and beyond on multiple occasions - extending my stay, booking a bus, assisting with an excursion. If I ever get back to Tam Coc, I will be staying here again!
