The surrounding countryside was beautiful and the actual accommodations were adequate (cabin amenities, rooms, furniture, etc). It was a last minute booking and we had relatively low expectations.

Fantastic place. Much bigger than I expected. The location was amazing as well, so close to so many hiking paths and lakes. The house also had tons of amenities such as cooking and bathroom supplies that I did not expect.

Absolutely lovely family owns this property! We chatted a few times over the 2 nights we stayed there. They were so welcoming!
The experience was globally disappointing. Firstly, if you come attracted for the fact of being a golf resort (the views of a golf course, having the chance of playing golf, etc), it is not the case. Once there, when I asked (by email, no personnel at all in the place), they told me that it was once a Golf Resort, but not anymore since years. Nevertheless, in the room they still offer a leaflet (picture attached) with the golf course playing options. I found that tremendously misleading and even cheating. On top of that, several additional deficiencies were found: -lack of cutletery and crockery in the room for basic eating, despite the room has fridge and microwave. - bad isolation of our cabana room, being able to hear the neighboring room.
The view of the lake is very nice

Very small town, no real town square or downtown, but had Metro groceries, an ice cream shop, Tim Hortons, beer store etc. The real draw is the large lake & area landscape, beautiful. A great stop for motorcyclists.

I went to Barrys Bay to bicycle train on the numerous hills of the area. The roads are quiet and mostly well paved. In addition to my own workouts, I was surveying bicycle routes for my club which has for the first time planned events out of Barrys Bay for May and July this year. Finding accomodation where our riders will be able to get rest between hard days on the hills may become a challenge. Overall, I engoyed the stay and my time climbing on the hills. The best place to eat is at the Ash Grove Inn which is nearby. It has a very good kitchen and a nice patio where I had a good dinner each evening.

This little town is great.
This little town is great. Theres plenty of little shops and local eateries. The ash grove inn is a must for breakfast/lunch with a view of the lake. The locals will give you great recommendations for anything you're looking for. Make sure you bring your deep woods spray - the bugs will get ya!

A very nice public walk/bike path all along the water's edge. A public sandy beach in town on a very clean lake. There is also a playground for young children which would be great for travelling families. We ate at the fantastic Wilno tavern!
I love that the building and the area has a unique history. I love that the hotel continues to be used as a hotel (with upgraded plumbing and electrical) while keeping it's original charm. The owner is very friendly. Her conversation about the hotel shows her appreciation of the Balmoral's significance in the community and her commitment to maintaining it's usefulness as a commuity meeting place and comfort as a hotel.
We arrived later than expected to the hotel without having eaten dinner and everything in town was closed. The restaurant/ bar at the hotel is closed for renovations but the hostess was kind enough to pull together some delicious peach/apple crumble with a vanilla bean whipped topping because she “couldn’t let us go to bed hungry”. The hotel needs some TLC but the room was very nice, clean and the bed was comfy.
Very good location, breakfast not provided, but open for lunch and dinner. New chef, food and service was very good. Owner always available and trying very hard to update the hotel. Comfy bed. Older hotel rooms on the small side but good sized bathroom, just what you would expect. Good place to stop for a night. Also left my iPad behind and the owner tracked me down and called right away, much appreciated!
The locaton is good and the Hotel owner is friendly! Since the unit we stayed in included a small kitchenette, it would have been nice to have a kettle, coffee maker and a couple of mugs to make coffee or tea in the morning. I felt it was great value for the money that we paid.
Nice exterior, lovely renovated room, very clean. Good mini-fridge with freezer compartment and mounted flat screen TV with good WiFi. Nice towels, plusher than other motels and even big hotels. Can see the mountain across the street. Good value, will come again.
Quaint old hotel from the late-1800s with modern renovations. Owners/operators were extremely nice and personable, and made the stay even more pleasurable. I was very happy that I ended up at the Balmoral in Barry's Bay.
This was like 2 star motel, no breakfast, coffee naked but no cream or milk, way to expensive for that time of the year.
They are charging like hotels 5 stars .
Way to much money for this room in September.
The location was perfect for us. There is not much available in that area. The hotel is trying to provide comfort. There is nice gazebo for breakfast, or chat. There is an access to good walking trail behind.
Exactly what I was looking for for a quiet weekend away from the city.
Property has lakefront right outside the hotel room.
The hotel room is spacious and has all the things I needed to stay with a friend.
Interesting history of hotel; clean room & comfortable bed; had a restaurant and a bar. (No breakfast though.) Owner was very nice and helpful. Bed was nice - and a king; candies in room, a nice touch!
Enjoyed the breakfast at the Mountain view motel , Better then the Hotel in Barry Bay . And no bus stop Restaurant any more .
I'll eat Mountainview motel breakfast any time .
