We were driving back home to PEI from Ottawa and just needed a place to stay overnight because it was apparent that we wouldn't be able to drive all the way and had to make a stop somewhere. The price and location were the two major factors when we were booking. The check in was easy and the room was comfy enough for 3 adults. We even had a nice view to the St Laurence river.

Just a drive through after the ferry but would not recommend using booking for reservations. We got a room - supposedly the last in town - at a hotel - Cofotel - that wasn't worth staying at, and booking too a review on it I did not send, so if you are staying in Saint Simeon, do not use booking! Also, they kept posting rooms in Riviere du loup - a ferry ride across the St. Lawrence. I feel sorry for Saint Simeon as they are not a fancy town, but Booking and other tourist mentions do not make it look very inviting. At this time of year, not many restaurants are open or have good ratings.Marion - 10Scored 10

The town is tiny, but near the ferry and very picturesque with abundant water views. There are very few restaurants and a tiny grocery store, so options are limited for dining out, but the grocery store is well-stocked with pre-made meals and sandwiches. Location is midway between La Malbaie and Tadoussac, so it is easy to explore both areas.

St Simeon is a lovely tiny town on the St Lawrence River.
St Simeon is a lovely tiny town on the St Lawrence River. It has a ferry that crosses over to the south shore of the St Lawrence River to Riviere du Loup. We stayed 2 blocks from the ferry terminal. There is a waterfront park there with picnic tables, a public washroom, and water access if you have your own kayaks or paddle boards. The local garage fixed our flat tire without any waiting. We just showed up and they fixed it right away. Thank you. Across the street from the ferry terminal is a cafe coffee shop. They make great coffees and have baked treats as well as sandwiches and wraps. We ate supper at the Restaurant sur Mer, a quick walk from the Cofotel Hotel ( we were given a free upgrade) where we were staying. Every table has a view of the St Lawrence. There were no vegan options here so we ate a vegetable soup and garden salad and fries. We were so grateful for the kindness and generosity of the people here: from the garage Savard that fixed our flat tire in record time, to the free upgrade at the Cofotel hotel, thank you. We will be back.

Our hostess was the sweetest and most accommodating. We enjoyed the little river that runs past the inn while sitting in on the lawn and catching up on our day. St. Anne's Basilica is located just south of Saint-Simeon and it is worth a visit! Beautiful complex of buildings and extraordinary tile work. Genevieve and Claude were wonderful hosts..helpful and kind. They have a number of board games available, but they invited us to play a Norse lawn bowling game with them…such fun! We went kayaking right in front of the hotel, too. Plenty of room outside on the lawn with chairs, tables and a grill, if you need one. Our room was more than spacious. When heading this way again, we will be back here to stay.

We were given a free upgrade to 2 queen beds instead of one queen bed. The lovely lady at the check-in desk let us park out front with our truck, I think because we had kayaks and bikes on it. The hotel is on the main highway. No road noise, quiet room. We had a fridge in the room but no microwave. The sparkling clean bathroom had all amenities including a hair dryer. The bed was very comfortable and fresh. 2 blocks from the ferry terminal and three restaurants.LynnCanada

The breakfast was included (the do not provided it in lower season - it is too troublesome, so check with the management before you arrive) it was modest, served in the tiny cafeteria, but it was tasty and pleasant. The WiFi was strong enough to have a video call, which is seldom in this part of Quebec.

Based here we drove 20 miles north to Tadoussac to catch the “Navettes du Fjord” 11:30-5pm boat up the Saguenay River to L’Anse Saint Jean sighting Beluga Whales en route. Just a few miles south is Port au Persil, a photogenic park great for whale watching. The Gentilhommiere hosts are exceptionally gracious and helpful.LaurieUnited States of America
