Pristine ,well equipped and quaint historical lodge. Christmas lights at Train station was a beautiful view. Decor is eclectic and interesting. Perfect first floor room for my 95 year old Mother. We will be back. Great linens and plenty TP. No Tissues or Paper towels. Bring your own and a dish scrubber or cloth. Perfect place to stay when riding train.

We are I did not know this until after we arrived and looked at other units, but if you book thru Booking.com there is only one room you will get... #102 which has not yet been renovated like all other units. If you book directly, I think you can choose which room because it shows descriptions of them. The place was nowhere near full, so it wasn't the case that this was the only room left. No description of any specific room are shown on Booking. The basics of the description was correct but the condition of those ammenities was left out. It is very vague exactly which room you are getting until you get the Email with the door code that it is room 102 along with an apology for hot water that take way too long to reach you when there are no other rooms occupied and using it. I don't know whether it is Booking's fault or the owner for not giving complete info to Booking, but it is very misleading. It matters because the room 102 has a very old and uncomfortable innersoring mattress while the others have new memory foam ones. I know this because some other rooms were left with door open and I just walked in. Electrical upgrade has not been done in that room and most outlets are 2 prong and being used with those stupid 3 prong adapters (very inconvenient) , and some even with 3 prong power strips with window air conditioners plugged in them (very unsafe and not to code in most places). I guess I should have done more research... there was a reason why this room was $107 and the renovated ones (direct booking) were $155. Even the $155 was out of line for the location. Exterior grounds and building have obviously been neglected for years. Historic is one thing but neglect does not make it historic... it can be historic and maintained. There was not an issue with cleanliness inside, but the minuses far outweigh the pluses.
