The room was average, but when I asked the clerk for a closer room to the front where EVERYTHING was located, because we had a cancer patient with us , she wouldn't accommodate. When I asked for a Veterans discount she said she couldn't because we have to ask for that during booking. Even though there was no option to ask. Then she charged more than the room price, and then she called the manager. So they basically charged me twice. Once for $197.69, and then a second charge came through AFTER we were in the room! The second charge was for $188 and change so I called my bank to flag the first charge that was wrong.

Very beautiful property and hotel. Lots of sitting areas around and in the hotel to enjoy our stay. And the shopping village and restaurant on the property is a bonus

The location was good for our family. The family was friendly, although some confusion regarding our booking occurred. (It took some discussion before it became clear that my sister and I were in the same room.)
Located off Highway 66 and 5 minutes’ walk from Sturgis town center, the hotel offers rooms with microwaves and refrigerators. Rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi and cable TV at the Travelodge...

I would suggest that everyone visit this beautiful little city. It is stunning! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The shops are wonderful with many unique things. The furniture stores are the best. And of course, the concerts could not be any better. They have so many great performers, etc. All of my favorite stars come here to perform, and I thank the establishment for bringing them all here at an affordable price!!! The Blue Gate Restaurant is wonderful; so many menu choices, and the hosts and workers are the best!

A great little place to visit full of fun things to do. Lots of shops to explore, from clothes, jewelry, flowers, art, home, to hardware. Also great options for food and you can even see a great performance at the theater. And you won't want to miss the flea market!

Love this town. Great for shopping, FOOD, gifts, sightseeing, learning about other culture. Summer is a better time to go since the flea market is open then. But there is pleenty to do in the winter as well!

We like visiting here for the shows and to shop. It was a beautiful day when we were there and we will go back!! Eating can be a challenge as there is not a lot of restaurants to choose from and especially to find that stay open past 5pm. So you are either gonna eat early or go to the 2 that are open past 5. But they definitely need more sit down restaurants!!!!

We only live in Mishawaka and have always loved to shop in Shipshewana! I love the flea market (but haven't been for several years), Davis Mercantile, JoJo's pretzels, Yoder's, and E&S Sales. It was our first time to eat at the BlueGate Restaurant and it was excellent! State Road 5 was a mess as they were widening the road...that was the only downfall of our visit.

the stores with food were great-bottles of fruits, veggies, popcorn, soup dried mixes. also several Amish furniture stores, odds and ends-unusual pieces. enjoyed all things-flea market is only a part of scene-need to explore everything else with we did.
We were in town for a concert, and this hotel was the cheapest, most convenient one we could find. Think "better than Motel 6 and Super 8, but still very basic". It's a one-story hotel with comfortable beds, and it's clean. We could hear neighboring rooms activity, but earplugs helped nicely. They had a wonderful breakfast for a basic hotel - 4 kinds of dry cereal, biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs and bread and bagels. We'd stay here again.
Felt like coming home, unlike staying in a hotel.
The host made it know he was willing to take care of our needs should there be a problem.
Special care was taken in the house keeping of the home which accounts for a lot of the comfort we experienced. They truly have a gift of servanthood, we have been blessed by our stay. Our thank you’s to both Sarah and Kenny. We hope to stay the next time we travel to the area.
The rooms were clean and quiet. The atmosphere was wonderful. We had a great family experience. There were many Amish families staying at the hotel and that was a great experience. Went downtown where there were many quaint shops and it was beautifully decorated for Halloween/Fall. Hearing the horse and buggies going by was such a great relaxing experience in this busy world we live in today.
breakfast was lovely. Hot and cold selections, juice, tea and coffee. loved making waffles every day. Front office personnel were awesome.
If you asked they answered. next door to The Shipshewana RV Park and a mile up the road was the enormous flea Market, every Tuesday and Wednesday. Awesome find to be had. This is our fifth time to Shipshewana, we enjoy the atmosphere.
I brought my grandsons to Shipshewana for their first time to share the experience and they enjoyed it so much.
But, when you ask them what was their favorite part of the trip they say " the hotel and pool"
So there ya GO! It was a hit.
The place was so clean and tidy.
We probably will make this a yearly trip with them.
Thank you!
One thing when you book the Blue Gate Hotel you must realize NoTHING is open. No restaurants even subway was closed. It would be nice if they had a list of places to eat on Sunday. I understand their religious belief but they rent you a room and you feel like you are left stranded on Sunday
The room, the location of the hotel and the friendliness of housekeeping staff. While most folks dont realize that although I am black, I have been coming to shipshewana for more than 25 years and am quite familiar with the area
Lovely, clean, comfortable hotel in the heart of downtown Shipshewana. The staff is always friendly and the beds are very comfortable. Although we didn't go swimming, the pool and hot tub were very clean and inviting.
The front desk staff was very helpful. A staff member brought a wheelchair to our room so my Mom did not have to walk. Very friendly and pleasant throughout the hotel! Thank you:-)
I stay at the Farmstead Inn every time I come to town. I travel to Shipshewana at least once a year, I love the Farmstead and the Shipshewana, both are so friendly and welcoming.
Liked the atmosphere of the hotel and the extra room in our room. Great to sit and relax with friends without having to sit on the bed. Staff was very helpful
The motel is centrally located and is pet friendly. They have a decent free breakfast. When spending the night in Shipshewana, we always stay at this motel.
