The breakfast was excellent. The hot tub was the right temperature and private, so it was a great experience. The breakfast conversations with the owners were enlightening, and it's cool that they speak and connect with their guests and give great island recommendations. The reading room is wonderful, with great records to listen to.

Well appointed for our family. Enough dishes and chairs and comfy beds. Good hang out spots throughout the house. Nice collection of books and games. Good central location for the island and pretty easy to do some short bike rides from.

The home is beautiful nestled in the whispering pines. It has a vestibule upon entering and allows total quiet for the upstairs bedrooms while people enjoy the living and kitchen area on the main level.
There is so much to do on Orcas island. The shops in the main down-town hub and all the restaurants are great. The beaches and parks including Moran State Park and the look-out on Mount Constitution are a must-see! We booked a home near the ferry dock. If I had more time, I would have walked on a ferry to explore another island such as Friday Harbor on San Juan island.
It was easy to "decompress" from city life when on the island. The vibe of small town friendliness was definitely there! We traveled during non-peak season so perhaps that helped us feel relaxed and enjoy our time.

I booked this lousy unfinished noisy parking lot view room...
I booked this lousy unfinished noisy parking lot view room one year ago. There were lovely refinished 3 person rooms with great views in this hotel that we could have had easily from my view. I went and looked at them during my stay and no guests were there. The construction crew got better rooms which is nice of you to do, but not at the detriment to guests. I would advise to call the place yourselves to see what you are getting into. I could have booked two rooms or as one staff suggested put my special needs adult son on a mattress on the floor. I hate to give bad reviews, but don’t put me in this position. I am not going to be forceful and be hard on the staff because I told them and just don’t want to make a scene.

Beautiful island with many attractions of the non-franchise...
Beautiful island with many attractions of the non-franchise sort. Altitude and sea-level, Orcas Island has everything. I sailed by here several times many years ago, it was great to be on shore for a couple of days and see what there is.
There are not many restaurants on Orcas, but every one that we visited had great food.
The vibe here is very chill, without the resolutely chill atmosphere of resolutely chill destinations. Everyone seems to think and act with the idea that "y'all should just keep doing what you're doing, and I'll do the same". Except that they don't say "y'all".

The resturants in East sound were great!
The resturants in East sound were great! we loved the White Horse Pub and The EDge at OUtlook Inn. THe food at Roserios was ok, The salmon was good but the Halibut was a disappointment in the recipe how it was paired with the rice. Hard to find a public access to beach areas, up on the north part was a good public spot by airport.

Eastshore is very busy. Orcas is beloved by tourists.

It is hard to get to a beach, even if you go to a State Park.
The potteries and Art studios are superb. I loved the Art co-op in Olga.
If you don't stay at the Orcas Hotel, at least make sure you dine there.
It was an adventure.
