GREAT OPTIONS TO SEE BEAUTIFUL LAKE ARGYLE LANDSCAPES AND EASY ACCESS TO BUNGLE BUNGLES BY AIR. KUNUNURRA HAS NIGHT TIME SECURITY ISSUES - NOT RECOMMENDED TO WALK AT NIGHT ESPECIALLY IF ALONE. LUCKILY THE MEALS AND ENTERTAINMENT AT PUB WERE GREAT!
Ord river tours, traveling around the area, parks, out to the springs, all the eating outlets, large ranges, spot on getting around was very easy. I think what a lovely place to visit. The people were friendly, the indigenous people were spot on, were very help full many thanks THE ONLY THING THAT MADE US UNHAPPY WAS EL QUESTRO, WE RANG TO SEE IF THAY HAD CAMPING SITES AND WAS TOLD THAY HAVE ACOMADATION, CAMP SIGHTS JUST ROCK UP, SO TRAVELED TO THERE; THIS IS SECOND TIME IN 2 YEARS, GET TO SIGH ON ROAD PICE OF PAPER ON BOARD BOOKED OUT 100 KLM FOR NOTHING NOTHING ON THERE WEB SITE TO SAY BOOKED OUT NOT ONLY US MANY OTHERS HAVE SAME STORY EL QUESTRO, SHAME ON YOU, WITH THE PRICE OF FUEL YOU DONT GIVE A DAM ABOUT THE CAMPERS ,US AND MANY I HAVE TALKED TO WILL NEVER BOTHER TO VISIT YOU AGAIN ; PS IT IS NICE PLACE BUTDONT WASTE YOUR MONEY,THERE IS MANY OTHERS IN KUNUNURRA WILL LOOK ARFTER YOU. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY AND DRIVE TIME SHAME SHAME
Every time I get to Kununurra I always book at the hotel. The rooms are clean, comfortable and everything you want or need is only a short distance away. The restaurant is good with a great selection on the menu. If anyone chooses to stay you won't be disappointed.
The town seems extremely run down from when I was there ten years ago. The service at the petrol stations and exspecially the wild mango cafe was very average. The hospitality seeks to be run by international travellers creating a confusion with communication and knowledge of the area and the puma petrol station in particular there service is embarrassing and they have no idea on customer service
Kununurra was a great place to stay and base activities from if you are travelling on your own and without a car. Lots of day and overnight tours operate from here including Lake Argyle and Ord river boat cruises and flights over the Bungle Bungles. Accommodation is not too expensive. The town itself is small but has all the basics including a Coles. It has a couple of nice Art galleries including an excellent Indigenous Artist one, Artlandish. I stayed at the Kimberly Grande which is a little bit out of town but it had a good restaurant and a very good cafe called Spilled the Beans about 100m away in a caravan park across the road.
This was our third visit to Kununnurra and we would definitely visit again! Our kids love The Grotto - particularly in dry season when it’s more suited to swimming. Mirima NP is such a surprise so close to town. Many walking tracks to make each visit a little different. Lake Argyle is stunning and so surprisingly huge. We’ve cruised, with swim, there on each visit. Check the supermarket closing times before making plans. They open and close earlier than where we live - easy adjustment to our plans to suit.
