Accessing the property was easy as there was someone to meet us and hand over the keys upon arrival. The property was well-kept, clean and comfortable. There were heaters in most rooms (as well as a spare tank) so it was easy to stay warm during the colder winter months. The house was spacious, clean and contained everything you'd need for a stay. The kitchen was well-equipped and had plenty of utensils, pots and pans to be used.

Every single nook and cranny showed the creative of the designer. Absolutely fascinating! There's even a pinball machine built into the wall. Wow. The kitchen was the most well-equipped one with everything well-thought out and considered. You can really tell the effort put in by the host and family. Everyone loved the projector Tv and wished we could have spent more time here. The host was very nice communicative too. Would love to stay here again and use the outdoor patios next time.

Surrounded by mountains, lakes and the great wilderness of Hokkaido, Mashuko Youth Hostel offers simple accommodation with free WiFi access. Lake Mashu is a 16-minute drive from the hostel. I wholeheartedly recommend the Mashuko youth hostel, the owner and his family do all the best to make your stay as comfortable as possible! They have vast knowledge about Asan park and it's neighbourhood, plus are very friendly and helpful. The location is ideal for hiking and if you want enjoy the wildlife - I saw a fox and deers a couple of times. It's ideal location to visit Mashu lake and climb the Mashu mount, however if you want to visit the other lakes: Kussharo and Akan I recommend renting a car or a mountain bike. Still I really enjoyed staying here and thinking about coming back here in future. Arigato gozaimasu!
