We didn't choose to stay in Lander, We were in an accident, So we were kind stuck for a couple of days. It is a very cute town with EXCEPTIONALLY nice people !!! EVERYONE we talked to was sooo nice it is definately A cute town with a bunch of fun boutique shops. If I ever have to drive through Wyoming again, I would make a point to spend the night again. If you pass through Lander after 5pm, consider stopping because ,there is no other town for about 2 hours and lots of antelope jumping onto the road.
Lander has so much to offer from the scenery and places to go and see. If you are into biking you can bike all over and four wheeling also. You go camping almost anywhere. It is a friendly family oriented little town. There is a amazing golf course that I like very much.
Our stay was just an over-night stop before going to Yellowstone. The town was quaint and clean. We ate at the Oxbow restaurant -very good. Very friendly staff and other customers.I would like to go back and see more the town.
Lander is a small town in Wyoming. There were some cute or specialty shops, only one big grocery store (that is old). There were quite a few other businesses that were newer- hardware, lumber, recreational, etc. There was a variety of restaurants. There were a few museums, and one could take day trips to other towns and historical sites.
Lander is a classic western town with a strong emphasis on the outdoors. Several good dining options exist in the town but not a lot of nightlife except for the Lander Bar, which is great with a micro brewery.
A wonderful small mountain town with a lot of charm and community spirit. The economy has obviously taken a toll on local businesses, as many are vacant in the downtown. But the outdoor opportunities to hike, hunt, fish, and camp are abundant and some of the best in the world.
