The place is just a stopover location, as it connects two very important roads. Not very nice except if you want to get in the middle of nature and do hikings, etc. But there are many other places that are better for this.
The only reason we came across Tok was that it was a city on our way to our final destination which was Anchorage. We relocated from WA state to Alaska. Unfortunately really did not have a chance to explore Tok but did go have dinner at Fast Eddies which was fabulous. I wish we would have had more time to hang out in Tok for a few days.
Tok (pronounced Toke) is a small community with gas stations, restaurants, gift shops, a store with food and hardware, and a post office. It's a good base location for visiting the immediate area and sightseeing.
We traveled to Alaska to see everything thing we could and drive every road we could with a rental car. Tok was all part of our adventure!!! Covid has had an affect throughout the US. AK is no different. Places were closed permanently others shortened hours due to staffing. Menu items throughout AK was limited but everyone was nice and you knew they were doing everything they could.
Tok is a place to relax for a bit after a lot of road travel. I like small towns surrounded by nature. For a short stay like mine, a town only has to have one reasonably good place to eat to be satisfactory. We thought Fast Eddy's was good. Apparently our hosts also think the Thai place is good as well, since there was information on that as well as Fast Eddy's left out for us. Friends had recommended a couple of nature-type walks in the area, but we didn't have time to do them. Next time we will stay two nights for a more relaxing stay. For many people, one night in Tok will be enough, especially if one arrives reasonably early in the day.
The property was a lovely log house with good size bedrooms. We had a great ensuite, hot water and soft, fluffy towels. The bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great. Karey looked after us very well.
