It is a place where you will find chill people, can enjoy surfing with literally no people in the water (apart from the people staying at Harry´s and few locals) and not many other tourists. For me it is the spot to learn how to surf, since it is a beach break (safe), only few surfers, but still some good swell. It is perfect for relaxing and extending your stay to more than just a few days (I ended up staying a month). You can rent a surfboard and scooter for a really fair price (cheapest I have had in my travels). Tina and Gayun who run the hostel are super friendly too. I am already planning to come back at the end of my travels :)

Java Turtle Lodge is an exceptionally beautiful place to stay at where they look after you and want you to have the best experience. Our villa was clean & comfy, showers were hot, food was delicious and the garden is actually my dream garden with a fish pond and hammocks. We had an amazing time on our Sukamade turtle trip. In all honesty, this was the most expensive trip we paid for on our trip, but it was so worth it. First we visited Green Bay for a little hike & swim, then we had a fun 2 hours jeep ride, deep in nature, to Sukamade beach. Later, we went to the beach to spot turtles who might come to lay their eggs. We were not lucky to see one in action, but we followed her way back into the ocean. We spent the night at the national park rangers’ post, which was a minimal room but had everything we needed. And the best thing… we released baby turtles in the morning. Everyone included in this trip was genuine and treated animals fairly. A much recommended stay and trip!

VH is a bit away from the rest of the town, so it has very chill vibes and lots of nature around it. The beach is super close by and the owner, Cuboh, was super friendly and helpful, definitely the best part about staying here. You can rent surfboards from him and he had good recommendations for restaurants around town. Ask him about the local sea turtle rescue project and if you’re lucky with the timing of your stay you’ll be in for a truly unforgettable experience

King Kong is a super nice host, who made me feel very welcome during my stay. It's a 1 minute walk to the beach and the stay offers surfboard rental and lessons for a good price.
