The attached restaurant and bar was convenient. However we had to wait over an hour for main meals. There was a tour group in before us which obviously overloaded the kitchen. They appeared short staffed as the staff who were there were very busy, often running between orders.

Very nice bed and breakfast on a cool property. Loved all the wallabies and rabbits that visited several times a day to our picture window view from bread. Great breakfast. Great location close to an IGA and the ferry to Maria Island. The host Mary was very pleasant.

Beautiful place to stay! We were a family of five and stayed a week. It had everything we needed. The cabin was warm, cozy and comfortable. Clean. Heat pump kept it nice and warm on the nights it was cold and raining. Electric blanket warmed fast and was great.
Overall a great experience and a great stay BUT what made this place amazing was the new owners.
We stayed last year and while we liked the place itself the staff were rude not very accomadating. This stay was a completely different experience. The staff were amazing, the owner and the cleaning staff were great. So accomadating. We left our wet towels out to dry on our balcony and typical Tassie weather it rained overnight so the owner grabbed our towels for us without being asked and put them in the dryer and dried and folded them for us and had them sitting in the covered outside patio waiting for us on our return back to the cabin. They were more than happy to provide extra towels etc when needed, and always had a welcoming smile. He was great to talk too, had great tips! Will definitely be back, amazing stay. Thank you 😁

We were so lucky to have a room with unimpeded views across the fields and Iron Creek in the distance. Waking up to the animals outside and being able to feed them with our kids was such a great experience. The facilities were modern and clean and the architecture of the buildings is really interesting. It's great having a restaurant nearby as well. There is even a playground for the kids! Would definitely recommend.

This property presents itself as a grand house. The location is awful - in the middle of scrubby bush, up a bad dirt track, near no towns, or beach, or hill, or stream, or pubs or cafes, or anything. No gardens, no lawns, no car park
It is described as in Buckland. Buckland is a tiny village of a half dozen houses. This house is nowhere near it, and is about 12 to 15 k from the village.
The house is big, but to call it the Great House is laughable, it looks like someones white elephant. There is a sitting room one can use and the bedroom is upstairs. All of the rest of the house is locked off. This is really a bedroom in a large, badly built, suburban style house. The housekeeper does the best she can- helpful on check-in, and the house is clean and tidy, but this can't compensate for the fact that the location and quality of this property are not up to the description. The outside of the building is run-down, and the whole place looks abandoned.
Once you are shown to your room, you are left alone in the property.
No TV in the room, no amenities, nowhere to walk or go to. Breakfast, in the room fridge, for 2 was 2 slices of bread, a banana, an apple, an orange. It was not served in the upstairs living area (which is actually a corridor) it wasn't served at all!
No evening meals is available or served, in fact there is no-one there in the evenings.
I simply cannot understand the other reviews.

A very quiet village.
A very quiet village. I recommend a visit to the historic Twamley Farm that is offered by the host. We used Buckland as a base , staying two nights and doing a day trip to Maria Island. The cottage was a wonderfully relaxing place to unwind after a hard day's walking on the island. We prepared our own food but could have made a delicious meal with the gourmet supplies available at the cottage. We were travelling as a couple with a teenage son. Having 2 living areas meant the boy could have his own space. As the 2 bedrooms only had double beds it would be unsuitable for a family with more than 1 child.
Lovely building. Exceptionally clean. Comfortable beds. Cosy warm fires. Wish we stayed longer. Buckland is a very small town. But there is history and adventure if u bother to look.
