We loved the antique, yet comfy bed, the large bath tub, the wood fire & the delicious breakfast that the lovely owner made for us. She also provided informative information on the platypus who live in the local creek. Unfortunately we couldn’t wait for Mr Platypus, so I bought a post card of a platypus photo! Well done to the owner of Bears Went over the Mountain! We were in room 2 on 26.11.22.

There are plenty of places to see around Huonville.
There are plenty of places to see around Huonville. Just remember that you must have transport (hired / owned) or else you'll be stuck in your hotel / B&B. There are no cars for hire in Huonville, only a taxi service. It just a little town in this part of Tasmania that is apple country .... a joy to drive around with barely any traffic on the roads.

Although Huonville is not far from the city of Hobart, it is very prettily situated in beautiful countryside. Rolling hills, green paddocks, grazing stock, apple orchards and a wonderful fast flowing river system make for a very scenic place to visit and stay
Lovely spacious room, and really appreciated the extra pillows of different types available! Breakfast was wonderful, lots of tasty options. Really enjoyed the little verandah and view, great to relax with. Make sure you explore the gardens, they're amazing, and there's the cutest little pademelons running around the area! The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and really made it feel very personal :)
Fabulous property to stay if you are 2 couples as you each have your own private bedroom with all facilities including kitchenette, both opening into a large, luxurious, living area for you to enjoy. On-site parking. Beautifully furnished and presented. Cosy wood fire. Lovely host. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the Huonville area.
The Big Shed House was very comfortable and well fitted out. It was unique being a converted apple packing shed and very well located being close to Huonville. The hosts were very helpful and friendly. We loved sitting on the little deck and listening to the birds. And the wood heater was very efficient. A great spot to stay and explore the beautiful Huon Valley!
The staff were so friendly and full of local knowledge.made us feel as though a part of the family. Unit was terrific and breakfast more than adequate served in a well heated dining room. The gardens on the property are outstanding with beautiful colour. Very quiet position very close to Huonville and many attractions and restaurants.
House on the Hill, high over Huonville, was a lovely place to stay. Paul, the host, was extremely friendly and accommodating but not intrusive. The room was very comfortable and warm, the lounge had a fabulous view and the breakfast was great. I would thoroughly recommend the House On The Hill.
The location was great; close to Cygnet and Huonville but still in quiet countryside with a stunning view up the Huon River. The room was very comfy and beautifully appointed, as was the guest lounge and kitchenette. The hosts were genuinely friendly and interested in their guests - lovely people!
Great location as I was travelling around the huon valley and this place allowed me to do that without getting stuck in the city. The art work in the house was amazing as well. Check in and checkout was simple.
Great comfortable accommodation close to Huonville and the Huon Valley. Hosts Wayne and Maria were wonderful, providing lots of local information and lovely breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
The location of the property is on top of the hill and the view across the valley and Huonville is just breathtaking. And, in the afternoon pademelons hopping around the garden are very special.
Wayne and Maria the perfect hosts, great continental breakfasts with too much choice, nice accomodation and gardens
