Kings Canyon Rim Walk
Kings Canyon Rim Walk
After a 6am breakfast, we headed off to the Kings Canyon Car Park, just 10mins drive, within the Wattarka National Park to do the 3-4Hr Rim Walk graded as Moderate to Difficult. The walk can’t be started after 9am as the temperature gets too high. We started at 6:30am.
OMG, what an experience, starts with a very very steep 500 steps section until you reach the rim top. It’s exhilarating. We met a few couples from Uluṟu doing the walk and other groups, everyone is so friendly.
The path is well sign posted with safety signs to keep hikers away from the rim edge.
You walk along the rim edge then down to the sacred Garden of Eden waterhole, very peaceful.
Finally we walked along the southern wall and down to the carpark. The entire walk was approx 3hrs. We also walked the short Creek path, but it was very dry. It was a great day and ended at the Kings Canyon Bar & Grill for a well deserved drink.

Stayed 2 nights but could have been one more to do more than just Kings Canyon as had only one full day there. The rim walk is hard to start with but worth the effort. Also I would recommend the 2 side detour walks.
Stayed at Kings Creek Station that I would recommend and ate there too. Do not expect luxury in the Bush Tents - they were as advertised and good for a place to sleep and rest. The shared shower/toilet facilities for the bush tents experience are clean.

Kings Canyon is one of Australia’s hidden gem and will highly recommend trekking to the wonderful rock formation. The walking track is easy to navigate with the help of the easy to find signs. Very grateful and proud that this natural wonder could be available for anyone to visit.
We really enjoyed this property. Walls and roof were a canvas tent, but on a wood platform floor. The room was spacious, comfy bed and a small fridge and coffee maker were supplied. Full and spacious bathroom attached. The back deck had a gorgeous view of the outback. Short drive over to the reception area for breakfast, as well as other meals if needed. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food delicious! Great location to drive out and experience Australia’s red center.
The location is very close to Kings Canyon. The stay offered breakfast and dinner! The dinner wasn't expected and it had quite a lot to choose from.
The tent is located a bit outside of the reception area so it gives you a wild feeling at night. We heard a camel's sound which is quite cool.
The room is quite nice and neat, though it's in the wild, you can feel that the owner really tries to maintain the best standard.
Unexpected comfort in the middle of nowhere near King‘s Canyon NP. The cabin was very well appointed. Comfy bed and very modern bathroom, with good shower pressure. Parking right outside the cabin. Small terrace provided gorgeous view of the Milky Way at night. Nearby restaurant had good dinner options, with excellent beer-on-tap selection. Breakfast was decent. Nice lightshow at sunset. About 10 km to the NP.
Our room looked at Kings Canyon and was close to the bathrooms. The room was roomy enough for 4 people and a short walk to the tavern. the tavern was lively with great meals but busy so we had to get their by 5pm to get a table and not have to wait too long for meals. Watching the sunset from the lookout spot was enjoyable with live music and a bar.
Half hour drive to Kings Canyon Rim Walk - highlight of the trip. Kings Creek Station was a great base. Loved the atmosphere of the working station, breakfast was sensational. We stayed at the Bush Tents which were basic but comfortable enough Bring your own BBQ food and use the facilities to have dinner at sunset.
Rooms were spacious and well laid out so that it felt very private. Very quiet at night. Close to Kings Canyon walks.
Facilities for meals were great and boardwalk out for sunrise/sunset very well done. The resort is quite vast so feeling of great spaciousness and extremely clean with very helpful staff.
Set away from the road, Mort Conway camp tents are well equiped and comfortable. Lots of birds around the site. Staff at the restaurant were great, along with the included dinner, with an option of burgers or salads. The camel burger was delicious! Breakfast was basic, but lots of options.
We choose this "Glamping" experience because nothing at that time was available during our trip close to where we liked to go i.e. Kings Canyon.
This Station is at a great location and deserves more modern facilities; certainly for elderly people it is below par.
close to Kings Canyon (36km away). Meals available on site; which was great, considering the isolated location. Kathleen’s springs was a short but beautiful walk about 15 km from the accommodation. Helicopter flights were available on site.
We had very comfy stay. Kings canyon 6 km.3 min drive. Petrol station and little shop near reception. Internet in reception. Good point to overnight on your way from Allice Springs to Uluru. Good breakfast.
Great to have a large bathtub in the room and see the starry night sky. Also ample water catering and a well designed room. Food at restaurant was good incl. vegan options.
The breakfast was wonderful and expansive, The room was very nice and must have been redone recently. Great location near Kings Canyon National Park. Staff was great.
Glamping tents are awesome. Included breakfast and dinner. Spacious. Warm.
Wonderful to be in nature yet have great facilities.
Close to Kings Canyon walk.
