As like for other wine regions we tried to find a hotel with a winery in walking distance. This one is about 500m from Bimbadgen Estate, which features a high quality restaurant, a cellar door and a pizzeria, and we made use of all of that.
We had a friendly welcome at H Boutique Hotel (also by some roos, which enjoyed the rain), and got a big room, in fact it's an apartment with bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room and a terrace. There's of course ample parking.
Next to the reception there's an interesting shop / bar / cellar door... don't know what to call it, but we enjoyed a nice cheese and wine tasting there, and the next day a breakfast too (it's not open every day though, but we were lucky). It was perfect for the rainy day we had on arrival. Apart from the winery you can walk to, you're very close by car to every other Hunter Valley attraction and winery.
Located in the tranquil Hunter Valley, Spicers Vineyards Estate offers spacious rooms with free WiFi, a fireplace and spa bath, a 2-hour drive from Sydney.

Spoilt with the number and quality of exceptional Hunter Valley wineries.
Wines were brilliant. Cellar doors very knowledgeable and willing to share their wine knowledge as needed.
The compact nature of the Valley means travel is easy and without hassles.
Restaurants and concert venues are 1st class.
Being so close to Sydney... it's a must to visit and enjoy the world class wines!

Beautiful area with gorgeous scenery and incredibly welcoming people at every place we went. So many little wineries to visit, chocolate and cheese. A great place to relax and wind down.
We weren’t that overwhelmed by the brunches we had at Liesure Inn and Eden at the Garden Centre, but the surroundings and lovely people helped overcome that. I think some places rely on the tourist one time visit rather than getting everything right.

It turned out to be an AirBNB. Promised breakfast and had to cook myself. Not a good choice. Told by owner I could go out somewhere else to have breakfast!!!! Why when I have paid for it?
Shower over spa tub in bathroom so not easy getting in and out. Tear in one of pillow slips. Furniture not very nice.

It's great for couples, not alot to do for children but we found a few options. Perfect for a weekend getaway and of course a wedding which is why we were there. Super impressed with Brokenwood and the changes they have made.

Pokolbin has quite a few things to do and a number of accommodation options at your disposal. It's just a matter of how much you can afford to spend and how much time you have to see everything. We drove around as this was easiest for a family, although you had the expensive horse and carriage or cheap electric bike hire as other options. The wineries are always a winner, but the Chocolate & Fudge Factory and Cheese Factory are good to visit as well. Take a look at Pepper Tree Vineyard. They offer free use of their gardens/vines for a picnic opportunity, but you do need to book this.

Hunter Valley Gardens was the best.
Hunter Valley Gardens was the best. Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort was horrific. Only those visitors who booked with Oaks could use facilities others could not even though we paid the same amount. We were deprived of the use of major facilities at the resort as we booked through booking .com. It was a humiliating experience, awful for my daughter. Heartbreaking. The woman at Oaks reception was vile when explaining the disaster to me.
Loved the cleanliness of the property and the use of king size beds in each of the three bedrooms and each had its own ensuite. The location was just an 8 minute drive to Peterson House and Harringtons Hotel. The Nineteen Restaurant was handy with a good selection of food and drink. The westerly aspect at the back made for pleasant outdoor breakfast and lunches. Nice to see the kangaroos out the back at dusk. High ceiling in living area great for photographs.
Our first time visiting the Hunter Valley on our way home from a driving holiday to Canberra and home is Townsville
It was such a great location and lovely accommodation and close to a really nice new tavern Nineteenth Hunter Valley
Would love to spend a few days and experience all the area has to offer. So glad we choose this place, there was a Wedding happening the same afternoon we checked in and it looked like an amazing spot to get married
The warm welcome from the staff from reception to the cafe. It was family first time in hunter valley and the H hotel was the perfect stay for us. Especially when you need a place to stay after an eventful day and night taking kids to the hunter valley gardens Christmas lights. The kids enjoyed their time.
Lovely villa in scenic Hunter Valley. AC was on when we arrived and the villa was clean! We enjoyed the local kangaroos roaming the nearby field, the songs of the birds, and tranquility. Close to many amazing wineries and having a BBQ was a great bonus!
This was our second stay and for sure we’ll return soon. it’s very well located (close to several wineries, Hunter Valley Gardens, restaurants etc), has everything you need for a short stay, clean, beautiful views and very responsive and lovely staff.
This is a great unit, the location is beautiful with amazing views off the back deck. The unit has everything you need and the hosts provided detailed information for us to make check in a breeze. it’s central to everything in the hunter valley.

Wonderful & accommodating staff. The room was great. The meals served from their restaurant were very lovely. Central to all the highlights of the Hunter Valley. Highly recommend this hotel for a fantastic stay.
location was amazing, self contained apartments were so modern & clean + the view from the private balcony was incredible & relaxing. The staff were all so lovely & the degustation dinner we booked was 10/10.
Basically we loved everything, staff fresh, clean, maintained property inside and out, location was perfect - not far from anything and far enough away from the busyness of Pokolbin.
Check-in was easy. Beautiful location out in the countryside but close enough to wineries and Pokolbin Village. Lovely views.
Highly recommended for those who want quiet seclusion
