Great place to stay to get away from city life and relax. Beautiful scenery and good base to explore nearby national parks. We had everything we needed for our short stay. Unseasonally cold and windy weather on our first night, but we were warm enough with the electric fire. Appreciated the opportunity to talk with Clint (the host) and his father, and felt very welcome. Enjoyed being on the farm.

It is a small country town and its services suit the locals who know how it works. We were there midweek in school holidays and found a number of businesses only open Friday and weekends, closed for the holidays or very limited hours. We could not get a coffee after 2.30pm except in the Globe bistro after 6.00pm. Neither pub had coffee at the bar. It probably hums at weekends, but was very quiet during our visit.

Visited Hill End, Kandos, Sofala and Dunn's Swamp while in Rylstone. Ate at Pepino's (mexican) which accepts Dine and Discover vouchers. Good meal (apart from kids nachos - corn chips +melted cheese on a side plate). Also ate at Rylstone Hotel which although advertised as accepting the Dine and Discover vouchers, did not accept them. Missed markets earlier on day of arrival unfortunately. Recommend visiting Dunn's Swamp.

Great little country pub is a great spot.

Great little country pub is a great spot. Room was very basic but comfortable enough for one stay. Shared facilities where good except for the guests that had a party there and we could not sleep because of the yelling and running up and down the hallway. I think they should have been told to quieten down by management. I had to ask and it lasted 10 minutes. They made such a mess of the communal area and took it over so we as a couple couldn't use it.

Rylstone is an amazing country town, we loved the people, the hospitality, the food & the history of the region. We spoke to a number of locals who were exceptionally helpful & friendly. My husband and I had a delicious meal at the Rylstone Hotel, the meal was fantastic value for money. He had a Porterhouse steak that was paddock to plate, it was one of the best steaks that he has ever had. I had a tasty piece of flathead. David's store, Retro Records is a must see if you are a music fan.
