A quaint village on a wonderful Fundy island that is off the beaten path. Change comes slowly here, which is a good thing. Fishing, aquaculture and lobstering are the main industries on the island. The natural beauty of the area is often breathtaking. Spotting seals and a variety of whales from any number of coastal hiking trails is a definite possibility. Kayaking is another available option. Bring your camera because the area abounds in postcard quality photo opportunities. Immerse yourself in this genuine maritime experience that will make you want to return.

It was interesting to drive around the island and see what it was like to live there. The people were very friendly and told us a lot about the history and about aquaculture. The lupin made for some great photos, and we enjoyed the ferry to and from.

    You can't miss swallowtail lighthouse.

You can't miss swallowtail lighthouse. The departure and the return of the fisherman's boats is nice to see. If possible, try to visit during tourist season, otherwise you might find a lot of closed doors. For the nature's lovers.

The season does not start until late June. We were there June 6-7 and the Visitor Center as well as the Museum were not yet open but the trails are significant and varied. We bought local dulce and enjoyed the small town feeling; everyone was friendly and conversational.

As I was birding with friends for the weekend my favorite places were bird feeders, the water and the woods. I had breakfast at the inn and lunch and dinner with friends as the Inn doesn't open for meals till June. Open on the long weekend in May would be a bonus for me and for other birders at Bed and Breakfasts. I ate with friends who had cottages. Very easy to get around North Head. Awesome amount of Migrating Birds.
