Reception staff had a rude guest when we arrived who was making unreasonable and slightly intimidating requests for upgrades and similar. Claiming to be in the industry and wanting free stuff basically. We had to listen to it and felt they were unreasonable and frankly rude and entitled. The way the receptionist dealt with the customer was excellent and didn't just fold. Life is hard for hotels right now and giving free stuff is not doable, I wish people would behave better so young staff are not put in these situations. Well done and clearly a well trained team.

A Slice of Stunning Switzerland
Set on slopes by Lake Geneva, Lausanne is a laidback and liveable city. The views of the lake and dramatic peaks of the Alps are simply stunning, especially from Sauvabelin Tower in the northern woods.
Surrounded by vineyards, this is an outdoor lifestyle city great for sports including sailing, cycling and hiking. In fact, many international sporting governing bodies and the International Olympic Committee are based here. There is also an excellent Olympic Museum. In winter, Lausanne skiing options include the Jura Mountains to the north-west, and the Valais canton south-west of the lake.
By the lake (Lac Léman in French) is the Ouchy port area, home to many of the Lausanne hotels and restaurants. To the north is the Flon district, known for its lively nightlife popular with students.
The cobbled Old Town – the Cité – is a Swiss Heritage Site on a hill at the city’s highest point. It houses the castle and Lausanne Museum, both watched over by the multi-spired Notre-Dame cathedral. At the foot of the hill are 3 squares with markets, one of which – Place Riponne – is on the Metro.
This is the world’s smallest city with a Metro, an indicator of the wonderfully efficient Swiss transport system, meaning that Geneva Airport (the closest to Lausanne) is easily reachable.

We really enjoyed visiting the old town starting from the Cathedral, which although its undergoing restoration you can still go inside. The walk from the cobbled streets outside the Cathedral down to the train station is worth it, but you'll need comfy shoes to navigate the steep descent to Lausanne Station. The lakeside is a must see including the Olympic museum.

Try to avoid staying over on Sunday.
Try to avoid staying over on Sunday. All the shops are closed after 6 pm to 6.30 pm from Monday to Saturday and close on Sunday. So we feel wasted 1 day on Lausanne as it is Sunday. We only can walk around visit Churches and window shops on Sunday.

Lausanne is a fantastic city.
Lausanne is a fantastic city. The lake is simply stunning and if you are a tourist I think staying by the lake is possibly better than being in the city as it is so beautiful and changes all the time. The city has some nice upmarket shops and some lovely restaurants. There is a great metro service to get you up and down the hill and most hotels give you a free pass for this. There are lots of young people in Lausanne and all the restaurants and bars are very busy. We visited Montreux by train and Gruyeres by bus and Evian les Bains across the lake by boat.

I traveled to other places in France a Switzerland.
I traveled to other places in France a Switzerland. The train station is just 3 stops away from the hotel. The hotel is just above the metro station. When you arrive using the metro, you must take the elevator to floor E1. The hotel is just in front of the elevators to the left. Very well located! In Lausanne, we enjoyed the lake walk, the Olympic museum, the Place du Palau, the wood stairs. Just walking the city is relaxing. The cafes, the restaurants and shops are first class. We stayed 12 days and 11 nights. We wanted to stay longer. We love Switzerland ❤️

We used Lausanne as a base to explore around the East Lake, something it is well suited for due to the good rail service and the easy access to boats at Ouchy. We didn't explore all of Lausanne by any means but the area from the studio towards the castle and the walk down to Ouchy were very pleasant. Lausanne is very hilly so use of the metro (M2 for us) was almost essential.

Lausanne was a very nice place for my first time alone.
Lausanne was a very nice place for my first time alone. The architecture is amazing. I really liked hearing the bell it was quite nice; it felt like going back in time. The food there was amazing and everyone is very helpful. So definitely go there for a vacation.
Hôtel du Marché delivered on the facilities promised. The rooms do not have en suite baths, but the shared shower & WC rooms were more convenient than I expected. The rooms are small but very clean and having a mini kitchenette was handy. The hotel is convenient to the metro and buses. And in the incredibly hilly city of Lausanne, having a hotel with an elevator to our 4th floor room was great! Staff were friendly & helpful. The hotel offers a free public transportation card for your stay - a nice bonus.
I so loved my stay at Carlton Boutique hotel! Fantastic location close to the metro and to the lake, lovely ladies at reception(Camille, Sandrine) who made me feel very welcome. A particular mention for Camille who was sooo nice and super helpful.! My room was beautiful, with a lovely balcony and my stay absolutely perfect. I am already planning to come back! There is also a very nice restaurant at the hotel. And it is so great to also get a free pass for all public transport in Lausanne!
Friendly and competent Staffs. Quiet and larger room spaces. Room being cleaned daily. Safe. Good value for money. Very accessible location by Metro. Ambiance is serene and smells nice indoors. Excellent breakfast selection. Competitive restaurant prices at mealtimes. You can leave luggage for free after checkout (in case you have time to go sightseeing before your flight later in the day) I will highly recommend this hotel and I'll book again on my return to Lausanne.
The decor is unussual and very well done it gives a really nice mood to the lobby and the rooms. The staff is lovely and since it was very warm greeted us with a drink before doing the check-in. Room was comfy and calm, and the hotel is conveniently located to walking distance to downtown ( warning, it's switzerland, everything is sorta on a hill, so from the train station it is pretty uphill)
A small family run hotel in the old town of Lausanne. A short walk from the metro station. Very convenient for walking around old town and a short metro ride away from the ouchy lakeside. The staff was always courteous and helpful. Sent us the Lausanne mobilis card one day prior which helped a lot. The breakfast was great and freshly made.
The hotel reception staff is so nice. Location is great right by the station. Love the fitness center that you can access via the stairs. Breakfast is offered in the hotel plus lots of dining options just outside the door. There’s even a Starbucks downstairs next door and a late night grocery store COOP across the street.
the staff if very helpful and kind, hotel location is next to the lake which is very nice, less than 1min walk you have the Ouchy Port , the Metro and the Bus line, which is very Conveniunt to go everywhere. just on the night when Luna Park has event or concert then it is a bit noisy for the lake view room.
Lausanne was fun, and the hotel is quite central. If you come by train you can take the metro (M2) right to the 'Ours' stop, and the hotel and its restaurant are right across the street. They don't do breakfast (although there is after all a restaurant) but there's a nice café right across the street.
The nice room has a little balcony from where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lake. Especially on bright days this view is just terrific.
My first time staying at this hotel dates back more than 25 years. Since last year I stay here again when attending the Prix de Lausanne.
This hotel was exceptional. It is rated as a 3 star hotel but it should be at least a 4 stars.
The rooms were comfortable and modern. The staff was friendly, especially the receptionist that welcomed us in the afternoon.
This was one of the best hotels we stayed in Switzerland
Very well located hotel..staff very helpful...a stylish and comfortable hotel. 10 mins walk from Lausanne old town and 10 mins walk from Lac Leman...5 mins walk from train station .. and bus stop just outside the hotel...definitely a good choice to visit and enjoy Lausanne
This is my favorite hotel in Lausanne. It is very simple, brand new, clean and spacious. Even the single rooms with single beds are very spacious. The breakfast buffet is very nice and the view from the breakfast area is simply amazing.
The hotel is a very short walk from the main Lausanne train station and a metro stop, it was perfect for us to get around. The staff were super helpful when our mini fridge was not working and we were looking to store some food in it.
The room was quite big and very clean. The receptionists were amazing, they helped us in a lot of ways which was super nice. The location is really good, the lake is very close to the hotel and there are some grocery stores nearby.
Location is perfect with a bus stop right in front of the hotel. Lausanne is very beautiful and CLEAN. Never seen anything like it before. We used this only as sleeping place, during the day we were always outside.
Terrific spa and nice room.p outstanding breakfast wonderful location, free transportation “Lausanne card” easy public transport and access stops just steps away runs so frequent so perfect.
