We love this boutique hotel to pieces. It is not the first time we stayed here and it's definitely not gonna be the last. The staff is super-friendly and helpful. We had a big room overlooking the main pedestrian street. The room was clean, nicely decorated and quiet. The bed was very comfy. We appreciated the coffee and tea facilities in the room. We also appreciated a lot the bar on the ground floor that served very good beer and very good flammkuchen until relatively late. Parking is very easy to find if one follows the hotel instructions. We positively regretted that we only booked one night.
Only a 1-minute walk from the Old Town of Murten and a 5-minute walk from Lake Murten, Hotel Murten offers a restaurant, a trendy bar, and a large event room. Free WiFi is available.

Quiet location right next to the lake. We had a great view onto the lake and the hill and overlooking old town. Our room had a wraparound balcony, which was very nice.
Our dog was welcomed to the hotel and allowed into the hotel restaurant/breakfast room (we did pay 15CHF/day for her). The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They held onto our bags after checkout since our trains was not for a couple more hours.

Cozy little Place in a "rural" Village. Very Calm.

It's a very attractive little lakeside town with a medieval centre, including intact and walkable fortification wall, and lots of nice places to eat. It is well-connected transport-wise for visits to nearby attractions like the roman ruins in Avenches or the (really well-worth visiting) 12th century abbey in Payerne. Lake boats ply daily (in summer) to Neuchatel.

Murten is vey intresting, bt very small.
Murten is vey intresting, bt very small. Take one day to visitMurten and go for a long walk in he forest, by the lake. A "promenade" by boat over the lake (very small) will provide views over the small villages around it. One day is enough for all.
The hotel is cozy and warm. It is an older hotel (see my negative comments) but not old-fashioned. The location is stunning overlooking the lake, and it's right at the old town/historic centre that is anyhow "a must" to visit. The bed was very comfortable and also the pillows just right for us. We had the most amazing dinner in the restaurant - it was a bit pricey, but in the end, we can honestly say we felt it was completely worth it... absolutely delicious - and very attentive staff.
Although the hotel is at the very far eastern end of Murten, that just means a very pleasant 10-15 minute walk into the centre on the lakeshore promenade, so that was fine. Breakfast was entirely self-serve (in these covid-19 times) but well presented and fully adequate. It's a very quiet location. For travellers by car, there seemed adequate on-site parking which is certainly not always the case for hotels in the middle of Murten.

The room is comfortable with a plus for the shower. The location is not too far from Murten but you will surely need a car to get there. Also you almost can see the water from the place but access to it is not easy. You can walk for 10 minutes to get to a little tiny open spot. Otherwise you can access to the water through the community space but you will need a key and I am assuming to pay extra for it?
Morat was busy and this was the last room available 24 hours before. I was pleasantly surprised, the room and bathroom were clean and spacious although fairly spartan.
Breakfast was good and we were able to eat outside, enjoying the morning sun.
The warning of the DJ playing until 1.30am did not materialise. We did not hear a thing in our room, perfect night's sleep.
The hotel is very well located in the middle of the town, amidst restaurants and shops, closeby the lake for a swim. The hotel room was recently renovated, the old hardwood floors are giving it a nice atmosphere but the facilities are new. The owners are very committed and gave helpful tips and their restaurant on the ground floor is great for a nice dinner!
Stylish, comfortable, clean, spacious, quiet. One of the best places I've ever stayed. Loved the open shower and the feeling of being under the roof. Delicious breakfast and great location in the heart of Murten. Great value for the price. Totally recommended, especially for a romantic getaway ;)
Beautiful modern hotel within a original building in Old town Murten.
Staff was super friendly, great location, rooms very well equipped and nicely designed with high quality fixtures, very clean. Nice pub that's part of the hotel, right downstairs, very convenient and good athmosphere
Authentic character and charm. The entire staff could not have been nicer— Patrick was amazing! It was a rare chance to stay in a castle with amazing grounds, just a mile away from historic Murten - Morat. We loved every minute of our stay!
The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast was excellent with good variety of cereals, breads, cheeses and eggs. Superb coffee. The location is very good as Murten is on a lake and has a train station within five minutes walk.
Gorgeous quaint place in the midst of the old town of Murten. Conveniently located (5 mins walking distance from the train station & the lake) and surrounded by restaurants and bakeries.
Breakfast was simple but good. Location was fantastic with about a dozen restaurants literally steps away from this property. Wonderful htstss who was overly helpful
