Historically known as Canton and China’s third largest city, Guangzhou is the birthplace of the most popular type of Chinese cuisine with iconic wonton soup and dim-sum. It boasts an impressive skyline, some of the oldest temples in the country and crowded markets with everything from tea to hi-tech electronics.
The busy city centre mesmerises with its futuristic architecture and beautifully lit skyscrapers but just a short trip away you can find yourself in the quiet haven of Nansha Wetland, a bird sanctuary. Rejuvenated with new energy you can then admire the traditional Cantonese architecture of Xiguan Residence, once occupied by the upper class.
One of the city’s most popular attractions, the Liurong Temple is an absolute must-see, dating back to the 6th century and featuring a 17-storey high pagoda. Make sure you don’t miss traditional buildings near Yide Road as they’re slowly being removed from the map due to the city’s rapid growth.
From a 1000-year-old lake garden, to plenty of theme parks, relaxing rolling hills and mountains, Guangzhou seems to indeed have it all! Add impressive street markets and shopping centres and you’re up for a fascinating ride.
Guangzhou Airport is a convenient metro or taxi ride away and Booking.com provides over 390 different accommodation options for you to choose from.
Nice and bustling city with a lot of great food and places...
Nice and bustling city with a lot of great food and places to explore. Transportation including taxi is affordable and there is also good art and cultural space if you are fan. There is also no shortage of good shopping mall like Grandview Mall, TeeMall, IGC Mall, Beijing Road Walking street etc. it will be good idea to avoid visit during Canton Fair if you are not intending on visiting the Fair as the hotel fare will be high and high volume of traffic

It has a terrible location, difficult access to any part of the place, there are no shopping or food options, poor quality reception service, and service, I believe for the price paid, it was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in, worse than a guesthouse, expensive for what it offers

very vibrant city. clean and convenient in terms of commuting. food and shopping is cheap. people are helpful and friendly. Only issue was we were conned by taxi driver when we travelled from airport to hotel. His meter showed 500 RMB + 20 odd toll fees ...obviously being manupulated. ...unfortunately we didn't take down the taxi number to file a complain. So be careful taking taxi from airport. DiDi still best

Incredible city with more restaurants than I've seen on...
Incredible city with more restaurants than I've seen on travels to almost 100 countries, and every restaurant I tried was fantastic, despite most of my meals costing in less than €5. The metro system was easy to use; I never felt the need to try a taxi or e-hailing. Each day of wandering around I discovered new areas that kept me going for hours, whether it was vast parks, traditional areas with narrow alleyways, or gleaming malls and skyscrapers. I was surprised at how clean it was, without a spot of litter on the ground. I know this sounds like PR text from the city tourism department, but I was genuinely wowed. I am looking forward to returning and exploring in more depth than a short 5-day stay allowed.

taxi service bad in the Guangzhou, drivers always trying to cheat, want to take more money,. You must be carefull, from where, to where, you have to check on phone map, always. If you controlled them, give them real transportation money showed you on screen of taxi, Drivers are very unhappy, never say "thank you", silent. If they cheat you, get more money, more than planned, They are very happy tell you "xie xie", it means next time you come again, i cheat you again sound like that.

Good services and convenient even for foreigners who do not...
Good services and convenient even for foreigners who do not speak Chinese. The city is green and clean and in order. Multiple way of transporting available. Beautiful landscape; friendly people. Delicious food.
Beautiful, clean hotel. Great facilities, extremely helpful staff. Couldn't be more helpful. Lots of nice extras to make our stay comfortable - complimentary soft drinks minibar, free tea and congee in the lobby etc. Cocktail bar was also a nice bonus.
Rooms were big with a nice shower and great lighting options and auto-blinds.
The coach to the canton fair every day was also very handy.
Overall, they ran the hotel very thoughtfully and I couldn't recommend more highly.
The location couldn't be better—it's right by some fantastic restaurants. And let me tell you about the hotel staff—they're just wonderful. They're so professional and always have a smile on their faces. Oh, and the shower in the room? Exceptional. Plus, the hotel itself is spotless, and the rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable. And don't even get me started on breakfast—it covers everything you need and more.
The hotel is in a nice location. Close to canton tower and fabric market. The rooms are very modern, a bit small though.
But the best part of the hotel is personalised service.
Special thanks to Ms X , she was very very helpful and understanding. She speaks good English and tried best to help us. We will definitely stay here again.
Even the breakfast staff is very nice and supportive.
Overall a very good hotel
Clean tidy room. Great breakfast spread from "Western" to "Asian" foods on offer. Good Chinese restaurant on site and also a Japanese although I did not try that one but heard good reports. There were other restaurants' around.
200 metres from the Metro. On a direct Metro line from the Airport which is handy when loaded up with bags. Good communications from the hotel in advance when I had a couple of queries.
Wonderful breakfast, as well as afternoon tea (with salad, until 20:00) and evening noodles (from 22:00 to 1:00). Surprisingly clean room. Through Booking.com, the hotel does not respond quickly, but within 1-2 days. You can find out information about the shuttle bus at the airport information station, they will call to the hotel for you and then you will find the bus next to the exit 43.
I stayed in many 5* hotels around China, Ascott one of the best. First of all - good location, we just walked to hotel from Guangzhow East train station. Hotel is new and everythng inside rooms too. In general room nice decorated and has literally everything that you can need - not just hair dryer and iron, but also big fridge and even washing mashine. Nice breakfast in cafe downstairs.
This is more like a resort hotel in Middle of GZ. Nice & relaxing but close to everything including Canton Fair. On island in the river. There is a great running track all the way along so you can keep fit without running through town. Nice bar & free flow from 6pm. Shuttle bus to exhibition. Not cheap - but it will be my hotel of choice from now on..
It was a great stay there, the hotel is very calm and easy to access, i was there for canton fair, the bus is available. the room also was clean and comfortable. All the staf are nice and reaady to help especially Timmy, always available and reactive. I will absolutely come back there for my next fairs or for vacation.
Thank you
Very nice location in a historical place. Its interesting to walk around in a very unusual surroundings for so big and crowded city as Guangzhou. Really homely feeling:) The shopping mall with many good restaurants is just in 10-15min walk away. Looks as the hotel is renovated recently, nicely renovated! Good breakfast.
Everything was great. Less than minute to subway. I went to Poly World Trade Center which is only 2 stations from the hotel. Staffs were great. They are full of service mind, as well as they can speak English fluently. I can see Canton tower from my room on 38th floor too. Neighborhood was quite and clean.
I liked the room, very clean abd good size, I also like the location, it is close to Canton Fair and is beside the Conrad Hotel which has a great bar. We also discovered a fantastic Turkish restaurant beside the hotel which was so nice we went back every evening after we found it
Excellent value for money near-airport hotel. Very cheap. Adequate sized room. Nice bed and shower facilities. Very helpful staff. And a shuttle service to the airport every 30 minutes, including through the night. They also pick you up from the airport. Highly recommend.
I booked the hotel twice for my parents to travel from Australia to China. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I love the fact that the hotel is just walking distance from the airport and they offer the pick up and shuttle bus service.
Shuttle driver and desk clerk very helpful. Had an overnight stay prior to Guangzhou flight. The hotel was one of the closest to the airport but still at a reasonable rate. Several very basic restaurants within walking distance.
The breakfast is excellent with great Cantonese Dim Sum and basic western breakfast. The staff are friendly too. The view from the room is fantastic, great location with many eateries and attractions around the hotel.
staff is very good and kind , location is very good near canton fair and canto tower. Free drink is good it should refill food immediately. some run out and no refill it anymore
Fifth time here for Canton Fair: comfortable hotel at a fair price in good location. Excellent breakfast, free bus to the fair, will definitely stay here next time.
Location!
Walking distance to great attractions, river, Canton tower and restaurants. Shuttle bus services to Canton Fair
Views from hotel room were spectacular
