The first and most thing I want to describe is the great hospitality of the hosts, one of the best I have met during my trip. Very informative and caring persons that helped us a lot with good tips.

The Deluxe Boutique Lodge was perfect in so many ways. We booked this location to be close to Poas National Park and La Paz Waterfall Garden. It was 20 minutes to one and 10 to the other.
Walter met us at the property even though due to weather and construction we were about an hour late. He also became our lifesaver that day. Again, due to weather, a family member was delayed arriving into San Jose. Walter volunteered to drive down to San Jose and pick her up.
The property is located on the main road into the small village of Vara Blanca, walking distance to restaurants and shops.
The Lodge is super clean and very nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable, the WIFI very good and the huge TV was a welcome diversion during the stormy weather.
We do not hesitate to recommend this property

This place is like Alice in wonderland. We stayed in one of the "tents" but they were amazing domes with a window wall and soaking tub. Breakfast was terrific too.
Located in Fraijanes, 3.7 miles from Poas National Park, El Descanso Restaurante y Hotel provides accommodations with a terrace, free private parking and a restaurant.
Good roads but narrow as usual thru towns. Different landscape with the farms and greenhouses and coffee plantations in rolling hills. Waterfalls.
Loved the drifting clouds coming up the valleys in the evening. Cool evenings and warm days.

We went to La Paz Waterfall gardens and it was an amazing place. You could easily spend an entire day there. Also the area is known for strawberries. We bought some from a roadside stand and they were delicious.

This was a great stopping place for us and is close to La Paz, Poas Volcano, and Doka Coffee Plantation. We stayed here after visiting La Paz Waterfall Gardens (which is worth the cost to visit), and then just had a short drive to Poas the following morning. We only stayed one night, and didn't get to visit the town, but its location is perfect for a stopover while visiting the nearby sites.

The villas were adorable!
The villas were adorable! We loved our short stay but the wifi would not let us let our families know we had arrived safely. If you plan to leave early to travel more, the check out time is 9 am- not 7am! The staff member who spoke English was very kind and accommodating!
Very pleasant highland area stay base with short distances with private car to Poas volcano and La Paz waterfall area. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, some king of personal touch brought to mind old-style country villas in Eastern or Southern Africa - very easy to feel home. Very good birding opportunities on the hotel ground, around the hotel and on the trails. We were sad to leave the place after two nights - it would have been so nice to stay longer.
We had our anniversary here and they made it amazing. They worked with me to arrange to have chocolate covered strawberries and meats and cheeses and an incredible fruit platter brought to the room as a surprise. The bathroom is one of the most unique bathrooms ever with a waterfall in the shower. The outside hot tub was a great way to start each day.
Loved this place and they were so friendly. Don’t miss the frog tour at night. It was a highlight.
This a very beautiful hotel with grand view and a fancy bathroom. Humming birds are buzzing around the balcony and even got into our room. The evening frog tour is a must go. Parblo, the tour guide was exceptional helpful and knowledgeable. He showed us many different frog species and associated the guests who wanted to take photos. In the morning you can walk into the la Paz waterfall garden from the hotel before of the outside guests.
LOVED this place!!!! After finding out (by driving there) we could not hike to the Poas volcano (you need an online permit) we discovered Villa Calas had THEIR OWN hiking trails - so we did that instead! great little hikes right there! Staff was SUPER friendly, food - some of the best we have had and the cabin was so cute PLUS a fire place for the cool nights. Great location for the La Paz waterfalls and gardens
We came to the lodge right from the airport (less than hour drive). The hotel is very nicely decorated with a homey feeling. The lounge is really nice and even has a small fireplace (it can get cold at night).
The guy at reception was very nice and helpful and helped us with the national park reservation. There is also a beautiful trail in the hotel’s area - it is very recommended.
This place is 5 star hidden gem. The location is perfect 45 min /20 miles from airport. High in mountains right near many parks. So peaceful and the scenery breathtaking. These cabins are so unique and comfortable. The food was so unbelievable the best we had all week in costa rica. The service impeccable
You have to do the trails it's 5km and omg
The room was very nice and spacious (2 jacuzzis and a fireplace!) and it was a really nice experience to be inside the park and enjoy it at different times. The hotel is very nice and well located to visit the Poas Volcano (less than half an hour). We also had the chance to feed tucans, sloths and hummingbirds, which was the most amazing experience.
Lovely location, with trails around the property. Independent family run hotel. For warmer days there were outdoor facilities (BBQ grill, swimming pool, games). Onsite restaurant was open for dinner and again for breakfast. There was also a fridge in reception with water/soft drinks/milk/snacks for purchase.
The hotel is super family-friendly, you can play minigolf, volleyball, and even badminton.
They have farm animals that you can watch and even touch, also they have a nice trail that ends in a river.
A really good place to stay for a family vacation
Great location, hotel is clean and comfortable and staff really nice.
We did a couple massage and it was really relaxing.
We really appreciate the garden and parc around the hotel with animals, you can have a little walk in the forest.
Breakfast was amazing, eggs cooked perfectly. The staff including Fanny, Javier and the GM were exceptionally helpful and nice. Very close to Poas Volcano and La Paz waterfall gardens which is why we chose this lodge.
Highly recommend.
Very nice lodge and perfectly located if you want to explore the Poas region. Great breakfast, cute rooms with spectacular view and beautiful garden. Really enjoyed the hotel owned hiking path!
The host was nice and the beds were fairly comfortable. The location for visiting La Paz Waterfall Garden was great. Good for a night... but wouldn't stay for 2!
