Really friendly and accommodating owner, when you walk in communal area it's like local museum with bit of recent history.
I believe that Pension Zur Kutscherstube is suitable gore small group of friends are family.

If you know "The Colditz Story" you will really enjoy this place. If you don't I suggest you read one of the historical colditz books about the WW2 escapes as then you will get more out of it. Steffi is a wonderful guide, its well worth getting a guided tour, you will much more of the castle..

It is best to book a guided tour, as this takes you all around most of the castle. Non guided tours offer a fraction of access. Steps leading up are tough going but there is a road that can lead you around to the entrance near the hostel.

Pleasant town but not a lot to do apart from visiting the castle which was excellent. Recommend doing the guided tour which goes at set times and shows you areas not accessible to general entry. Dogs welcomed in all areas including the tour.

We emailed the Castle before our visit and booked an extended tour of the Castle. (2.5 hours - although it lasted 3.0 hours).
We were guided round by Steffi, and were able to see most of the castle (work is still ongoing around the castle). Escape tunnels, cellars, the attic with the glider, the museum, the book shop and all accompanied by quotes, stories and facts from the period.
A short film clip accompanied the glider visit, which set the scene.
Despite a wet, rainy day, this was without a doubt the best part of our holiday.
