I came to Halberstadt on a Thursday, arriving in the evening...
I came to Halberstadt on a Thursday, arriving in the evening, and left the next morning, staying at Hotel Sankt Florian near the Domplatz. That part of town was about dead at 8:30 PM when I checked in. Thank goodness, I picked up some chop suey at a China-Thai Imbiss on Magdeburg Strasse while walking to the hotel from the Bahnhof. The Domplatz and churches were lovely that evening. The next morning, two of the three major churches never opened, and I skipped the Cathedral because they wanted money to enter. I don't pay to enter houses of God. On the way back to the Bahnhof, I located the Tourist Information office and found it well and willingly tended. I walked to the Bahnhof, just to kill time before my train departed, although the Number 1 tram was easily available. I had a pleasant time in Halberstadt, saw enough of it to remember, but have no reason to return.

Halberstadt itself has some surviving old features but was severely bombed during WW2 and suffered neglect while under the DDR regime. It is being rebuilt but not with the same intensity as Quadlinburg or Wernigrode.AAnonymousUnited Kingdom

The accomodation is in a smaller city, nice and quiet area, very close to the center and to the historical streets with Fachwerkhäuser. Free parking is possible at the hotel. The leader and the staff is very friendly and helpful, the breakfast was good and rich enough. Dinner is also possible close to the place in the evenings. There are plenty of things to do in the area. We are very thankful for everything.László JenőHungary

Private parking in the courtyard. Everything was clean and well-maintained. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. You could purchase breakfast, but we did not try it as we were eating at the Christmas Markets. Shopping nearby. Quiet!
