FAQ about self catering accommodation in Oviedo

A historical charm in the north of Spain

The historical, charming and laid-back town of Oviedo is located in the Asturias region. It is home to an array of landmarks with a mix of Baroque, Romenesque, Renaissance and Gothic architecture, some dating back to between the 9th - 16th centuries.

This is evident in landmarks such as the characteristic Oviedo Cathedral and its UNESCO World Heritage Site, Holy chamber of Oviedo.

Theatres, restaurants, bars and hotels line the streets around Plaza de España and the relaxing and charming centre of Oviedo’s old town, Plaza de la Constitución. Sample fresh regional produce with a visit to Mercado del Fontán and the open-air market, El Fontan.

Other popular museums and landmarks include Oviedo's famous Campoamor Theatre, Museo Arqueológico de Asturias, Museo de Bellas Artes de Asturias, and San Miguel de Lillo. Nestled on the slopes of Mount Naranco you will find the superb Santa María del Naranco Church.

The picturesque, Campo de San Francisco features ponds, fountains and monuments across the park. Booking.com offers accommodation options and hotel deals in Oviedo and throughout the Asturias region.

A beautiful little city with enough to see in a long weekend. Lots of places to eat and drink. If you want to cater for your own food there are plenty of medium sized supermarkets and one large one. The old quarter is particularly pretty. Visited on Ascension weekend - 10-13 May 2024 - with lots going on: lots food huts in the centre selling the local cheese, and other local food produce. Excellent local marching bands and a large craft fair.

    Lovely city full of life!

Lovely city full of life! Clean, safe, amazing restaurants, cafes, bakeries. Great visits to the art museum (free!) and Cathedral (fee with a guide via QR code on your phone). Just walking around the city gives good vibes. Also a very big mall with food court in case you want to shop (or kill time on rainy days.) Surrounding villages on the coast have amazing views and crazy high waves that crash into the cliffs.

The cleanest, friendliest city in Spain.

The cleanest, friendliest city in Spain. I have never seen so many council workers sweeping a city before, incredibly clean. A must visit for everyone. The architecture is incredible, old & new together but not clashing. Museums, art, history and great cafe/bars etc all within walking distance, no taxis required.

This is quite a large city with wide boulevards and modern business and shopping areas with a beautiful old centre at its core. Good road and rail links for arrival and onward travel. Old town and Cathedral are lovely areas to explore on foot. Excellent choice of restaurants and bars- traditional Spanish but also Italian / mediterranean cusine and some catering for vegetarians/vegans. Plenty of historic buildings and gallery and museums to visit. Best experience- seeing a wedding party arrive and enter the Cathedral on Saturday morning- with traditional dress and musicians playing pipes and drums. Sitting in the sunshine at a cafe watching the spectacle unfold. Followed by a late lunch in a cobbled, inner courtyard restaurant ,nearby. Perfect!

Oviedo is a very clean compact city easy to get around...

Oviedo is a very clean compact city easy to get around walking. There are many many restaurants and Cider houses serving excellent Asturian or European food at very attractive prices. The Menu del Dia in the reataurants of Calle Gascona ranged from 15 euros per person upwards which included bread and oil, starter, Main meal ,and dessert, with 2 bottles of cider and water, the quality of the food was excellent. Particularly enjoyed The Cathedral, the markets, the food market with great choice of cheese ,meats and fish and bread. San Francisco Park is beautiful to walk around any time of day or night and very safe. The city has a lovely ambiance.

The hostess/owner was extremely kind and helpful. The breakfast was the best that I've had in Spain with home-made goodies and enough left over for lunch! The house/premises are just before Pola de Siero, coming on the Camino link from Villaviciosa, and well placed to break a long walk. The bedroom was spacious and peaceful with a good bathroom. The location is rural so dinner, (and obviously any dietary preferences) should best be considered and discussed with the hostess when booking.

What did we like? EVERYTHING!! The flat is adorable, the location is central and perfect for visiting the City, the "equipped" kitchen? Well, I travel with a chef who kept saying, "I can make anything in this kitchen!" So, yes... we ate well. The bed is super comfortable, with big fluffly towels and a host(ess) and her daughter that made us feel immediately like we were long-term friends. This accommodation and the host are easily a highlight of our month long travels through Spain.

The apartment was very clean and well prepared for our stay, there was lots of hot water in the kitchen and bathroom and there was access to Netflix, The cleaning lady is exceptionally helpful. I suggest for longer term stays that an explanation of the rubbish disposal be explained. Perhaps a card left in the apartment to explain might be useful Oviedo is a beautiful city but it has a rubbish collection system like no other I have come across in Spain,

Very nice hotel in a perfect location for exploring Oviedo on foot. We really loved our room, it was very spacious, very clean and we mostly loved the window blinds that completely blocked the light. They even have a pillow menu (but we were happy with the pillows we had). The staff was super helpful and friendly. The restaurant downstairs (not part of the hotel) was exceptional!
