I visited Ganges several times between 1980-1986... as I remember, there were many "boutiques d'artisanat" - leather, wool, cotton And it was the period of "grand mother " clothes. Fine white linen undergarments were worn directly when weather permitted... I didn't see those shops or similar...
Corrine was an excellent host. She was very kind and allowed me to park my motorcycle in a nearby garage overnight. Hotel was in centre of town and Thursday was market day so great atmosphere in the morning. Simple but comfortabke lodging.
A no-thrills hotel, but I found the room clean, the staff friendly, and my room was quiet. I especially appreciated the AC after a hot day of biking on the road.
