It was a very good traditional French breakfast. The hot chocolate was made from scratch and excellent. The bedroom and bathroom were large, newly renovated, and very well decorated. It was a unique experience in a tiny French village deep into Burgundy... not far from the Museo Park of Alesia and Fontenay Abbey. Our host was very engaging and friendly.

The Villa is actually situated in a hamlet (Ecorsainte) that is part of the commune of Hauteroche. Ecorsainte is tiny, therefore really quiet. The Pickwicks Villas are backing up into the woods, so no traffic at all, the odd tractor excepted. Just a very few km away, there are a couple of beautiful old villages (e.g. Flavigny). Next supermarket is 12 km away. There you will also have access to the Canal de Bourgogne. Alesia, where the final battle between the Gauls and Caesar's army took place, has a very good museum and is about 10 km away. Semur is a beautiful old town and just 20 km from Ecorsainte. The marvellous abbey of Fontenay is 30 min away and Dijon 40 min. The situation is therefore quite good: isolated enough to be very quiet, but close to a lot of sights and interesting places, not to mention a number of good restaurants!
