The staff member we dealt with was incredibly helpful and cheerful. The Ostalou is very good for a single night as a driving break for a longer journey. There are numerous restaurants close by and the parking although not specific to the hotel is large and free.

If you are looking for a special experience, I recommend...
If you are looking for a special experience, I recommend staying her. The building and grounds are an an actual castle built in the Italianate style (think Romeo & Juliet). The host and hostess were most accommodating. The grounds are extensive and include a very nice campground where the spaces are privately spaced with bushes & trees in between. There are laundry facilities. Some spaces have amazing views. The swimming pool is very large, with a play tower and two water slides. A convenient stop over town with a carrefour for cheap petrol and food for the onward journey. Closed on a Sunday evening. We drove around town, but difficult to find a restaurant on a Sunday evening. Had to eat in a horrid Buffalo grill next to our hotel.

We had no time to visit Issoire.
We had no time to visit Issoire. We only wanted an overnight stop. For that purpose the Ace was perfect. Very close to junction 12 on the A75 -- easy to arrive and depart. The hotel was simple, clean, the room comfortable and larger than many motels. The breakfast was copious and offered a good choice of high quality food.

Staff were lovely, we stayed on our way to Perpignan from Dieppe and stopped for another stay on return trip! Will make that our regular stop off. Parking is free and secure! The center of town is very walkable from the hotel. We were generally happy with the rooms, fair for the price. The staff was generally helpful, although the night desk clerk was overwhelmed when I asked him for an extra key card to one of our rooms--he did not know where to find the key cards.

Very convenient to motorway too as an overnight stop. Much nicer than a hotel. It’s a nice old building with high ceilings, renovated and comfortable. Coffee and tea provided. Cooking facilities and washing machine too if you’re that way inclined(!)
