Mantilly is an ideal small french village that has basic amenities, a church and a nice small picnic lake area. It's not ideal if you want or need a lot from a location and also, main regular supermarkets are at least 15km+ away and the local shops cost a fair bit extra if they do have what you need. We were happy with our stay there because we wanted to get away from everything including the internet to rest but that's not for everyone. So if you are not happy with your own company and or that of your travel partner's or if you need attractions etc, then you might want to choose a larger village or town. Even though we enjoyed the rest it gave us, I wouldn't personally or particularly recommend it as a must see or must visit location.
