I wasn't super-enthusiastic about the town of Montalivet. To my mind, it is overrated as a summer get-away destination. However, Alex's place was very comfortable (perhaps not during a hot summer's mid-day, but......): spacious and well-kept. And Alex, the host, couldn't have been more pleasant and more gracious. What was nice, as well, is that there's a combo swimming pool/Jacuzzi on the property, and it serves as a very agreeable change from swimming in the cold waters of the Bay of Biscay...which I did (sans wetsuit!). Bike rental is also available from the host, and the property is only about a mile and a half from the center of Montalivet.
